Pittsburgh police stated that Holmes was stopped as his SUV matched the description of a car that was wanted for drug trafficking. Officers reportedly smelled burnt marijuana and questioned Holmes. The wide receiver was cooperative with police, handing over a couple of marijuana blunts to the officers. Holmes was cited for possession, given a summons to appear in court and released.
