Santigold

  • Santigold, whose real name is Santi White, is a singer, songwriter and producer. She was named an "Artist to Watch in 2008" by the BBC, Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine.

    On April 21, 2009, Billboard announced Santigold would perform at the 2009 Lollapalooza Festival at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois in August 2009.

  • Education

    Born Santi White, Santagold attended Germantown Friends School in Pennsylvania. She graduated and went on to attend Wesleyan University where she studied music.
  • Career

    Santagold was briefly employed by Epic Records but left to pursue writing and producing music. She later joined the band Stiffed where she released one EP and one full length album. She was later offered a solo career in which she had several singles that were successful due to the internet. In 2007, she and former Stiffed band member, John Hill, co-produced her debut album, Santogold. The album received positive reviews when it was released in April of 2008.Metacritic: Santogold Reviews
  • Santigold Not Santogold

    In 2009, Santo Rigatuso, a jeweler from Baltimore, filed a suit against White for using the name Santogold. Rigatuso claimed he has been using the name since 1983.Billboard: Santigold Records With Beasties, Byrne Before Spring Tour (March 27, 2009)
