Santa Clara University is a private Jesuit institution of higher education.
History
Santa Clara University was founded in 1851 as Santa Clara College, by the Society of Jesus. For its first 110 years, the institution was an all boys facility, then in 1961, the university became coeducational. The institution changed its name to Santa Clara University in 1985.scu.edu: History
As of 2006, the institution has approximately 488 full-time, and 268 part time faculty. The college offers undergraduate degrees in Bachelor of Art, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Commerce.
