Sanders

    • Belt sanders affix sandpaper to a belt that rotates against the surface to be smoothed
    • Disk sanders move a circular piece of sandpaper in a circular motion over the target surface
    • Drum sanders utilize a rotating drum covered with sandpaper
    • Use of sanders can be dangerous; safety glasses and work gloves and other protective clothing should be worn
  • Sanders continuously run sandpaper over a surface to smooth it. A sander can be as simple as a sandpaper-covered block or other hand-held item, but usually the term refers to a heavier duty power sander that uses either electricity or compressed air to sand at an accelerated pace.
