Sandals are an open toe type footwear that can range from elegant to casual. They mainly reveal the foot including the toes and are worn mainly in warmer weather. Some common types of sandals are Flip Flops and Espadrilles.
Early Days of Sandals
Sandals date back to the ancient Greeks who were depicted in togas and sandals usually made of twigs and cork. The ancient Egyptians also had a version of the sandal from palm leaves and papyrus. Luckily the evolution of the sandal has created sturdier footwear made of leather, suede and rubber. Most recently sandals have been made of sustainable materials such as hemp, bamboo, and recycled rubber.
