Sanctuary TV Show

Sanctuary is a Sci-Fi Channel show starring Amanda Tapping. The series focuses on Dr. Helen Magnus, her protege, Will, and previously her daughter, Ashley, as they hunt monsters, called abnormals, in order to protect them. In the second season Dr. Magnus' daughter, Ashley, was killed and the series has shifted toward a larger group of main characters. At the end of the second season the abnormal called "Big Bertha" was captured by people looking to use her power over the weather to cause catastrophic destruction and in this same incident Dr. Magnus and Will were also captured, the fate of Dr. Magnus, Will and the in-universe world are still to be determined.

Sanctuary began as a program that was aired entirely over the internet. Each episode was about fifteen minutes long and aired two times a week. The TV series premiered on October 3, 2008, in both Canada and the United States, and on October 6, in the United Kingdom. The premiere drew in more than 3 million viewers making it the highest rated original series premiere since Eureka debuted in July 2006 for Syfy. The premiere's two-parter, "Sanctuary for All" was a combination and rewriting of the first four webisodes. Amanda Tapping with all of the original cast from the web series transitioned to the television series. The second season premiered on Friday, October 9, 2009 in the 10pm timeslot.
