    Alito served in several positions before becoming the Associate Justice on the Supreme Court. He served on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals from 1990-2006 and was an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall University from 1999-2004.

    President George W. Bush nominated Alito to the Supreme Court. Alito was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on January 31, 2006, but not without opposition.
