Samantha Morton is a British actress who is well known for her role as Hattie in Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown (1999), and as Sarah in Jim Sheridan's In America (2002).
Mini Bio
The daughter of a factory worker, Morton began her acting career at the age of thirteen, as a member of the Central Junior Television Workshop. After a starring role in the film Under the Skin, Morton caught the eye of famed director Woody Allen. In 1999 Allen cast her in the film Sweet and Lowdown, for which she earned an Academy Awards nomination for her role as "Hattie". Three years later, Morton won the British Independent Film Award for "Best Actress", followed by a second Academy Award nomination for her work in the movie In America. In 2006 Morton starred in the made for TV movie Longford, and won a Golden Globe fir her portrayal of "Myra Hindley". Morton has hinted towards a future in directing.
