  • When aspiring model Samantha Geimer was 13 years old, her family accused famed director Roman Polanski of drugging and then raping her during a March 10, 1977, photo shoot in Los Angeles, California. Polanski was arrested and eventually pleaded guilty to statutory rape. However, Polanski fled the country before the court handed down sentencing.     In December 2008, Polanski filed a motion asking for the case to be dismissed, based on allegations of judicial misconduct, misconduct that was revealed in the documentary about the case Wanted and Desired. Prosecutors argued that the case could not be dismissed because of Polanski's status as a fugitive. Polanski then asked that the case be moved from Los Angeles County courts because of the allegations.
