Sam Wyche

Sam Wyche is a former NFL quarterback and head coach. Starting his NFL head coaching career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 1984, Wyche stayed in the league for eleven years before retiring from coaching in 1995.

Brief Biography

After retired as a player in the NFL, Sam Wyche was able to attain an assistant coaching position with the San Francisco 49ers in 1979. It was there that he coached legendary quarterback Joe Montana, before moving on to Cincinnati. It was with the Bengals that Wyche had the most success, leading the team to a 12-4 record in 1989 and to the franchise's second Super Bowl appearance. However, they lost that game 20-16. Wyche retired from the NFL with a 44% winning percentage.
