Sam Nunn

Former senator and foreign policy expert Sam Nunn is a distinguished professor at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also the Co-Chairman and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Potential Obama VP

Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of Michigan confirmed on June 20, 2008, that Nunn was among those being considered for the position of Barack Obama's running mate.The Seattle Times: Nunn and Edwards on VP list (June 20, 2008)

On August 21, 2008, it appeared that Nunn had dropped from the VP running after plans were revealed for Nunn to travel out of the country until the following Monday. This schedule conflicted with plans for Obama to campaign with his VP selection in Springfield, Illinois, on August 23.CBS News: Nunn Appears To Have Dropped From VP Running (August 21, 2008) Delaware Senator Joe Biden was officially announced as the vice-presidential candidate via text message on August 23.
