Quotes
"I’ll do anything. I’ll shave my head for the right job. I’m partial to my facial hair, I guess, but I also enjoy doing something where I’ll look totally different. That’s kind of the reason I’ve always worn long hair, cause I can really change my look radically by getting rid of it. And the other thing is I’d rather wear my own long hair than wear a wig for something. So if the job requires long hair I’ve got it, and if it doesn’t I can cut it off." — Sam Elliot in an interview with Reelzchannel.com.http://www.reelzchannel.com/article/476/sam-elliott-interview-
"Gary Cooper was one. God, Sergeant York used to just reduce me to a puddle every time I saw it. I still get weepy when I see it."— Sam Elliot on his favorite Western actors in an interview with Reelzchannel.com.http://www.reelzchannel.com/article/476/sam-elliott-interview-

Interview With Sam Elliot
Sam Elliot is interviewed about his role in The Golden Compass. He states he read the books and saw the character that he aspired to be. He talks about the idea that the western era has ended, but he does not want to believe it. He sees the values that drive the western characters as a viable commodity. Although The Golden Compass is not a traditional movie, Elliot says he drew from the well of the greats such as John Wayne, William Holden, Redford and Newman for inspiration for his character.
