How Sago is Made

  1. The Sage Palm Tree is cut down.
  2. The trunk of the tree is split, allowing for the pith to be removed.
  3. The pith is crushed, releasing the starch.
  4. The starch is collected after being washed and strained to remove the fibrous residue.
  5. It is then either baked to create a hard cake or mixed with water to create a paste.
