College Football Career
Prior to playing in the NFL, Rosenfels played college football with the Iowa State Cyclones. After redshirting in 1996, he recorded 4,164 passing yards for 19 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. Rosenfels helped the Cyclones reach their first bowl game, the Insight Bowl, in which they defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers 37 to 29.
NFL Career
After college, Rosenfels was drafted 109th overall in the 2001 NFL draft by the Washington Redskins. Four months after the draft he was traded to the Miami Dolphins, where he made his NFL debut that same year. Rosenfels played in 15 games over four seasons in Miami, passing for 776 yards and scoring six touchdowns. In March of 2006, he signed as a free agent with the Houston Texans. Rosenfels was called up to start the 2008 Week 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts after starting quarterback Matt Schaub was hospitalized with a virus. He ended up starting in a total of five games that season, recording 174 passing attempts, 116 completions for 1,431 yards and six touchdowns.
