  • The SAG Awards are presented annually by the Screen Actors Guild to recognize outstanding performances from its members. The 15th SAG Awards aired on January 25, 2009 on TBS and TNT.

    1. Cast of Slumdog Millionaire won an award for Best Ensemble Cast
    2. Sean Penn won an award for his leading role in Milk
    3. Meryl Streep won an award for her leading role in Doubt
    4. Actor Heath Ledger who died in January 2008, was honored with an award for his supporting role in The Dark Knight
    5. Kate Winslet won an award for her supporting role in The Reader
    6. Doubt received the most nominations with five
    7. James Earl Jones was honored with a Life Achievement Award
    8. Ensemble in a Drama Series: Mad Men
    9. Ensemble in a Comedy Series: 30 Rock
    10. Male Actor in a Drama Series: Hugh Laurie, House
    11. Female Actor in a Drama Series: Sally Field, Brothers & Sisters
    12. Male Actor in a Comedy Series: Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
    13. Female Actor in a Comedy Series: Tina Fey, 30 Rock

  • About the SAG Awards

    The Screen Actors Guild Awards are the only awards show televised that exclusively awards actors, actresses and stunt performers. The ceremony is comprised of thirteen awards for acting in film and television. The awards recognize individual performances and also entire ensembles of dramatic and comedic television series, as well as the cast of a motion picture.   • Selection Process

    4200 randomly selected SAG members across the United States are selected as the SAG Awards nominating committee. The committee chooses the nominees for each of the SAG Awards categories from film and television in the year. A final ballot is determined by nominating committee, then all of the members of the Screen Actors Guild vote to select winners from that ballot.
