    São Vicente is a city located in Brazil. It is also known as the "Cellula Mater", because it was the first villa in Brazil founded by the portuguese explorers. Today, it is an important place for tourism. The neighbor cities are Sao Paulo (State Capital, 65km far from it), Santos (where the biggest port in South America is located), Cubatão (important industrial complex), Praia Grande.
  • History

    On January 20, 1532, a portuguese fleet found the island of São Vicente. The place was named in honor to Saint Vincent Martyr. As ordered by the King of Portugal, they build up the City Council, the Pillory, the Prision House, and the Church. São Vicente is considered the cradle of the american democracy because of the first popular elections for the City Council realized on August 22, 1532.
