This page contains a full text walkthrough for The Battle of Argus, an action game for the Nintendo Wii. Rygar The Battle of Argus is a port of a PlayStation 2 game called Rygar: The Legendary Adventure, and adds motion controls and gameplay improvements to the original title.
Gameplay
In Rygar The Battle of Argus, you play as Rygar, a warrior in mythical Rome who uses a special weapon called the Diskarmor: a shield with saw blades that can be swung with a chain. Rygar will acquire three different types of Diskarmor, each of which can be used to summon a monster and which can be upgraded using Mystic Stones found throughout the game. Mystic Stones grant special abilities. The Diskarmor can be used to destroy environments, and has other special functions like acting as a grappling hook. In the Wii version of the game, you can do special finishing moves with the Diskarmor by swinging the Wii Remote at the right time.IGN: Rygar: The Battle of Argus Review December 5, 2008)

Controls
- Move with the analog on the Nunchuk.
- Press A to perform a light attack with your Diskarmor.
- Press B to perform a heavy attack with your Diskarmor.
- Press Z on the Nunchuk to jump.
- Hold C on the Nunchuk to block.
- Hit C after being knocked down by damage to perform a "Recovery". Rygar will roll out of the knockdown instantly, into a blocking position. This keeps Rygar from getting hit again after recovering from a knockdown.
- Press Down on the D-Pad to slide. You must have unlocked the technique first. Slides can be used to dodge enemy attacks, to reposition Rygar quickly, or to slide through holes in walls.
- Press Up on the D-Pad to tackle. The tackle is used to push aside Tackle Boxes. It must be unlocked first before using.
- Press Down on the D-Pad while in the air to stomp. The stomp can be used to activate Stomp Switches. It must be unlocked.
- Press Left or Right on the D-Pad to switch Diskarmors.
- Hooks (floating purple orbs) can be used to cross gaps by pressing A. You must be facing the Hook and be in range to use it (the Hook will glow if you are in the correct position). This move is unlocked in Posiedonia Shrine.
- Lifts (floating red orbs) can be used to climb walls by pressing A. You must be directly underneath the Lift to use it (the Lift will glow if you are in the correct position). This move is unlocked in Labyrinthos Palace.
- Swings (floating yellow orbs) can be used to swing across gaps by pressing A. You must be airborne and facing the Swing to use it (the Swing will glow if you are in the correct position). This move is unlocked in Labyrinthos Palace.

Items
- Nectar restores some health when collected. They come in two sizes, small and large.
- Ambrosia will refill your health when used (use it from the pause menu)
- Puenma restores some Icol when collected.
- Omphalos will refill your Icol when used (use it from the pause menu)
- Caduceaus will resurrect Rygar with full health and Icol should he die. Save this for the final bosses of the game at all costs.
- Letters, Tablets, Ancient Tablets, and Vellum Scrolls provide backstory for the game.
- Gallery Items (known as Reliefs of the Future, Sculptures of the Future, Sound Chunks of the Future) will unlock extras in the Gallery menu. They are located in random objects you can destroy. You must play all three difficulty modes to collect almost all of them. When you save your game after collecting them, they will be permanently added to the Gallery and you need not ever collect them again.
- Sfaria can be collected to upgrade your Diskarmors. They come in 10P and 100P. Destroy all objects in the environment possible to find as many as you can. The 10P drops from a destroyed object are at times random, but the same objects will always drop 100P on every playthrough. This guide will give a rough estimate of the Sfaria available in every area in the form of "Sfaria checklists"; you may receive more or less Sfaria than the checklist reads. Note that enemies will also randomly drop Sfaria.

Rygar The Battle of Argus Diskarmor Info
- There are three Diskarmors in the game: Hades, Sea and Heavenly. They are collected at key moments in the game.
- Each Diskarmor can be upgraded to level 2 for 1000 Build-Up Points, and level 3 for 2000 points. The higher the level, the stronger the attack power, the more Mystic Stones can be equipped, and Rygar can use higher levels of summon.
- Note that Rygar initially starts with the "regular" Diskarmor and it will be upgraded to Hades after defeating Icarus. The regular Diskarmor cannot be upgraded, equip Mystic Stones, or summon.
- Move key for the Diskarmor moves/combos is as such: A for A button, B for B button, S implies "swinging the Wiimote", and Sr implies "swinging the Wiimote repeatedly".
- Hades Diskarmor
- This Diskarmor has phenomenal range and good speed. The range makes it very good for boss fights and it has powerful attacks. It is also the only one that has the "Snap" move, a move that lets Rygar whip enemies about and throw them. Notable moves and combos are below.
- AAA, AAAA: This basic combo is actually very effective. Great range, speed, and usability, and does quite a bit of damage to bosses. It even covers Rygar's backside well. The AAA version leaves Rygar far less vulnerable than AAAA.
- B: The B button launches a long range snap that is good for snagging items across gaps. However, Rygar tends to step forward while using it, so be careful not to let it drag Rygar off a cliff.
- ABBS: The S in this combo has HUGE range, the longest in the game. Excellent not just for attacking enemies you must stay away from, but also for snagging objects and targets across gaps.
- Snap: Hold A to "snap" the Hades Diskarmor into an enemy. Use the analog to throw the enemy in a direction, or shake the Wiimote repeatedly to whip the enemy about.
- AAAS: This must be unlocked; you can find it in a gold treasure idol at Labyrinthos Palace (on a ledge above the Minotaur statues). This move will make short work of the Dopplegangers and Giant Knight enemies, as well as a decent attack against some bosses.
- Heavenly Diskarmor
- This Diskarmor covers Rygar's sides and even rear when swung. Its flaw is that it is slow, so some skill and anticipation with this weapon is necessary, or the enemies will just overwhelm Rygar. However, once Rygar gets going it can easily flatten whole swathes of regular enemies. It's also great for specialized situations. Notable moves and combos are below.
- ABBSr, BBBSr: One of the best moves in the game. The Sr will cause Rygar to spin repeatedly, smashing all in his path. Rygar will spin up to four times. Very useful to quickly take down a crowd, especially in the Necromodio Cave. Don't wait for a crowd to close in before starting this move.
- ABS: The strongest 3-hit combo in the game. Fast and can do fearsome damage; excellent move against many bosses.
- AAB: Holding the last B will creates a vortex that sucks in monsters. It is good for grouping enemies together and outright killing hordes of smaller vermin like Karkinoses and Hyacinthi.
- Remote: Hold A, or press A, then release and hold A. Rygar will stop the Diskarmor mid-swing and have it spin in place as a top. Aimed properly and this will kill strong enemies like Cyclopses quite effectively.
- AASr: This must be unlocked; you can find it in plain sight on the way up Mt. Othrys. This combo does a massive circular sweep of all around Rygar. As with most of this Diskarmor's moves, do not wait for the crowds to gather before unleashing this move.
- Sea Diskarmor
- Perhaps the best Diskarmor for standard combat. Fast, powerful, especially with good mystic stones such as Tanatos. The combos can tear bosses and tough single enemies like Cyclopses to shreads. It also has a great many unlockable moves and variety of attacks. It lacks range, but that is easily dealt with careful maneuvering. Notable moves and combos are below.
- AAA, AAAA, AAAAA: Its standard combo is one of its best and does collosal damage especially if the full string connects and Tanatos is equipped.
- B: Pressing B performs an uppercut that stuns regular enemies for a long time. Excellent stun move.
- AAABBS: One of the most damaging combos in the game, although striking an enemy with the whole chain takes skill.
- Tracer: Hold A. Rygar will drop the Diskarmor. Release it to have it return to Rygar; it will cut down all in its way on its return for big damage. This move is VERY handy in key situations, especially against Cetus and True Icarus.
- AAASr: This must be unlocked by breaking the gold idol in Labyrinthos Palace Left Tower 3F. By shaking the Wiimote after the third A, Rygar will charge up. When you stop shaking the Wiimote, Rygar will fly forward and begin a vicious auto-combo that ends in an uppercut that stuns even some bosses. Rygar is invulnerable during the animation, which is also helpful. Its only drawback is the charge-up and that some bosses have immunity to the auto-combo (but never the uppercut).
- AAAASr: This must be unlocked by breaking the gold idol hidden in Mountain Trail. Travel along the cliffside leading to the Tower that takes Rygar to the Lion's Road. Instead of jumping towards the Tower, break the nearby rock outcropping to reveal a secret route. Drop off the edge of the secret route for the idol. The Sr charge-up will momentarily freeze time, during which Rygar will slide forward and cut down everything in range. Powerful move if Rygar is able to charge up the technique to the max.

Summons
- Hold C and press B to use a summon. You must be using the Hades, Sea, or Heavenly Diskarmors, and must have enough "Icol" (magic power) to do so.
- You can increase the level of summon used by pressing B multiple times during the initial summon animation; one for each level (maximum of three). You can increase the summon level by the same amount of level the Diskarmor is currently at. By increasing the level, the summon will do more damage at the expense of more Icol.
- Each Diskarmor has different summons. Hades has the Cerebus summon, which does fire-based damage. Heavenly has the Talos summon, which does lightning elemental damage and has great range, and Sea has the Siren summon, which can freeze enemies.
Mystic Stones
- Mystic stones can be found in the game and equipped to your Diskarmors for various effects. You can equip the same mystic stone to multiple Diskarmors at once.
- A good strategy is to use the mystic stones to create two kinds of Diskarmors in your inventory: one "offensive", one "defensive", and perhaps one "summoner". The idea is to use the offensive Diskarmor for attacking, and switch to the "defensive" armor using the D-pad when you are dodging enemy attacks or about to take damage. A "summoner" Diskarmor can be crafted so that you can use summons repeatedly and effectively.
- Aphrodite
- Found: In the Shrine of the Three Warriors. Climb the steps at the south end of the map to the atrium above. Follow the atrium around to a Swing orb. Use the Swing to reach the treasure idol.
- Grants Rygar the Restoration move (hold C and press right on the D-pad), which allows Rygar to spend some of his Icol to restore health. Rygar gains little health for the amount of Icol the move spends. It is still pretty handy on Legendary when nectar is very scarce and if you don't have or want to use Hypnos.
- Apollon
- Found: (LEGENDARY MODE ONLY) Rare drop from the Charon and Phobos battle in Tartaros. If they do not drop the stone after killing them, reset and try again.
- Grants Rygar the Guard Interrupt move (tap C twice while in the middle of a combo). This allows you to cancel Rygar's animations in the middle of a combo string into a blocking position instantly, which is otherwise normally not possible. However, you still cannot Guard Interrupt the finishing move of a combo. This gives you considerable defensive abilities as Rygar will no longer be vulnerable during a combo string, making a defensive game against enemies like Minotaurs easier.
- Ares
- Found: 1) Inside the third alcove south of the Brontes guarding the Sea Crucible in Posiedonia Shrine. 2) Near one of the Minotaur statues at the start of Labyrinthos Palace. 3) Random drop from killed monsters.
- Increases attack power. It is vital for any offensive Diskarmor. Unlike most other stones, you can find upgrades for Ares stones, further increasing attack power (maximum 50).
- Artemis
- Found: Past the Tackle Box inside the Colloseo.
- Rygar gains health every time he kills an enemy. Useful in the Necromodio Cave and Tartaros, especially if your healing options are limited.
- Athena
- Found: 1) Inside one of the Minotaur statues at the start of Labyrinthos Palace. 2) Inside the Elysium Shrine, behind a Tackle Box. 3) After killing the Centaur boss, look for a hole past his room. Do not drop down the hole. Instead, break a rock outcropping to the right of the hole and use the ledge it leaves behind to cross the hole and reach the treasure idol. 4) Random drop from killed monsters.
- Increases Defense power. It is useful for any type of Diskarmor. Unlike most other stones, you can find upgrades for Athena stones, further increasing defense power (maximum 50).
- Atropos
- Found: Random drop from killed monsters
- Grants Rygar the Mediation move (hold C and press left on the D-pad), allowing him to sacrifice his some of his health to replenish Icol. Useful if you are out of Icol and absolutely need to summon (such as to stop a Hammer Cyclops).
- Boreas
- Found: In Arcadia. Find the big staircase leading to the True Icarus boss fight, and descend to the bottom. Look for a stream nearby and follow it to a Tackle Box at the end. Move it, and climb up on top of it, and press A. You should latch onto a Lift off screen. The Lift will pull Rygar onto a floating island, which will travel upwards. When it stops, stand on the end of the island closest towards the Lion Castle and jump off to the right, then press up to change Rygar's trajectory towards the Lion Castle. If done correctly, Rygar will land on a giant rock. Follow the cliffside of the rock towards a hidden hole that will land you in a secret room with the treasure idol.
- Grants Rygar invincibility while using a Tackle. It does not protect Rygar during recovery from a Tackle. Since the invincibility protection is brief and the Tackle not very mobile, it is not as useful as other defensive mystic stones.
- Clotho
- Found: Near the entrance to the Magma Cave, where you fight Boa. You must knock down an ornate column on the other side of a gap to create a bridge to the treasure idol. Use the ABBS Hades combo, or hurl a Magma Roller into the column using the Hades Snap move.
- Increases the amount of Icol collected by picking up Pneuma, and from killing enemies. This stone is very helpful against Echidna, as well as in the Necromodio Cave in the levels where you must summon often to survive.
- Demeter
- Found: Random drop from killing monsters
- Halves the amount of damage Rygar takes from being hurled into walls and floors. A good defensive mystic stone to use when fighting Minotaurs and Cyclopses.
- Dionysus
- Found: Random drop from killing monsters
- Enemies are thrown far if they are hit by a combo finisher, taking extra damage if they collide into obstacles. This is very helpful to use against enemies with high stamina, killing them more quickly.
- Eirene
- Found: (LEGENDARY MODE ONLY) Inside one of the black obelisks in the Shrine of the Three Warriors.
- When equipped, all damage caused to Rygar, and caused by Rygar, are halved. This is the ultimate defensive mystic stone, greatly reducing the damage bosses can put out. Make sure that Eirene is not ever used for an offensive Diskarmor, however.
- Eurus
- Found: Random drop from killed monsters.
- Grants Rygar invincibility whenever he performs a slide. Useful for a defensive Diskarmor, although it does not protect Rygar while recovering from a slide.
- Hephaestus
- Found: Behind a slide hole next to a Sea Crucible in Posiedonia Shrine.
- Grants Rygar an extra 10 Build-Up points after killing an enemy. This is very useful for building up your Diskarmors quickly. Not as important in harder modes as Sfaria tends to be very plentiful in them.
- Hera
- Found: Mountain Trail, after killing the Centaur boss. While leaping across the gaps to the tower that warps to the Lion's Road, drop down in the third gap you come across. Rygar should land on a ledge holding the treasure idol.
- Upgrades the Remote technique for the Heavenly Diskarmor (hold A, or press A, then press and hold A). The Remote technique will now cover the entire area in front of Rygar. Useful if you use the Heavenly Diskarmor's Remote technique often.
- Hermes
- Found: In Main Field, in an orange jug next to the Telesphere that warps Rygar to Labyrinthos Palace. You will need the Swing ability; look for the Swing orb to the east and a bit south of the collapsing bridge across from the Telesphere.
- Grants Rygar the Dash ability (to Dash, slide while in the middle of the block position). Unlike the slide, the Dash has little recovery time, allowing Rygar to move quite fast. The slide is still more useful for dodging attacks, but the Dash's ability to let Rygar move across a lot of ground quickly makes it very useful for boss strategies and defensive Diskarmors, as well as just moving quickly through a world and improving your clear times.
- Hestia
- Found: (Easy Mode Only) Inside one of the black obelisks in the Shrine of the Three Warriors.
- Rygar automatically blocks all enemy attacks if he is idle or running. It does not protect Rygar during any other situation nor will it stop a combo or unblockable attack. Still, it makes the game much easier for novices.
- Hypnos
- Found: (NORMAL MODE ONLY) Level 25 of the Necromodio Cave.
- Rygar will regenerate all his health if he stands still for several seconds (you will see Rygar kneel as the process begins). It essentially allows the player free healing at any time, so long as Rygar is not disturbed. This mystic stone will make the harder difficulty modes much easier.
- Lachesis
- Found: (LEGENDARY MODE ONLY) Level 25 of the Necromodio Cave.
- Reduces Icol spent during a summon. This allows you to cast two level 3 summons with one max level Icol bar. Perfect for a summoner Diskarmor and excellent for killing bosses quickly.
- Morpheus
- Found: (HARD MODE ONLY) Level 25 of the Necromodio Cave.
- Rygar will regenerate all his Icol if he stands still for several seconds (you will see Rygar kneel as the process begins). This essentially gives Rygar limitless Icol so long as Rygar is not disturbed, and makes the Necromodio Cave a snap to beat at any difficulty. The Icol refills very quickly as well.
- Nemesis
- Found: In Labyrinthos Palace, in the area with the Minotaur statues. Behind a secret wall in an alcove behind a lattice fence next to a row of stone troughs.
- Grants Rygar the Knockback Cancel technique (press A while being hit by an enemy attack). Rygar will disrupt a hitstun by counterattacking. Incredibly good offensive mystic stone, ideal for combat with large crowds of monsters as this essentially keeps enemies from piling on hits to Rygar.
- Nike
- Found: Use the Stomp Switch near the first save point of Mt. Othrys.
- Grants Rygar the Guard Cancel technique (press A while blocking an enemy attack). Rygar will automatically swing his Diskarmor after blocking the attack. Not a useful mystic stone as the Guard Cancel attack is not strong and cannot be comboed into any other move.
- Notus
- Found: In Lion's Road South. When you encounter the "Ferris Wheel" of floating boulders, ride the boulders past the first stop and get off on the second stop. There is a treasure idol here.
- Grants Rygar invincibility while descending from a Stomp. While Stomps can technically kill, they do not do much damage, making this mystic stone only decent unless combined with Zephyrus.
- Persephone
- Found: Use one of the Stomp Switches in the Main Field Isolated Zone, then drop onto the now-accessable treasure idol from above.
- Causes the Hades Diskarmor's Snap move to automatically toss an enemy just by aiming the analog, without delay. If you favor the Snap throw, this is a helpful mystic stone.
- Tanatos
- Found: Labyrinthos Palace, in Left Tower 2F.
- Allows a Diskarmor to make "critical hits" (added damage for any random hit). This is absolutely essential for offensive Diskarmors and especially useful with the Sea Diskarmor.
- Zephyrus
- Found: Random drop from killing monsters
- Grants Rygar invincibility while jumping upwards. It does not protect Rygar while descending from a jump or fall. You can combine this with Notus to make Rygar completely invincible in the air (if Rygar uses a Stomp before he descends).
Enemies
- Roller Family
- The basic Roller is a green caterpillar-like enemy and signature baddie of the Rygar series. It can bite at close range or roll into a ball and charge into Rygar. They have weak stamina and are cannon fodder.
- The Alpha Roller is a massive, spiked version of the normal Roller. It can withstand a lot of hits and is very quick to perform the roll attack. It can also burrow into the ground and reappear elsewhere. They frequently drop Icol.
- The Magma Roller is a fire elemental-based version of the Roller. It does not roll terribly often but it does have a painful bite attack and can be dangerous if a group surrounds Rygar. There is a highly rare giant-sized variant found only outside the Magma Cave on Mt. Othrys.
- Hyacinthus Family
- The Hyacinthus is a green plant-like humanoid which will chase after Rygar and attempt to hit him with punches or flying haymakers. They have little stamina however and are easily killed.
- The Plasmacinthus is a purplish variant that can fire plasma balls at Rygar. A screech signals when they are on the verge of shooting a volley. They can take a lot of punishment.
- The Aguacinthus is a blue variant that can fire freezing blasts at Rygar. Unlike the Plasmacinthi, these are aggressive and accurate. They also like to swim about in water and give Rygar a Shoryuken-like uppercut when they surface. Always make sure to kill each one one at a time and quickly.
- Harpuiai Family
- The Harpuiai is a rat-like floating blob armed with a claw. They often charge towards Rygar and attempt to uppercut him. They like to phase away when Rygar attacks. Block or dodge the claw swipe and kill them. If they insist on phase dodging, press them towards a wall or some obstacle so that they can't escape.
- The Cruel Harpuiai is an upgrade to the Harpuiai. Their spiked hand hurts far more and they take more punishment. They also phase out very often but never use the ability to run away unlike the standard types.
- The Volt Harpuiai is the most dangerous of the Harpuiais. Their bodies are constantly churning electricity and will knock down Rygar just by touching him. They also hit hard and can even juggle Rygar in groups. They never phase out however, so make sure to be aggressive, blocking only if a group is about to surround Rygar.
- Giant Knight Family
- The Keiros is a giant bronze knight. It attacks by swinging its weapon at Rygar. Althought it hits hard, it is slow, telegraphs its moves badly, and vulnerable fron behind and after its missed an attack. Simply slide behind one, stay out of range and pound on the knight. You can also jump over its sideways slashes.
- The Iepato is giant red knight. It is similar to the Keiros, but uses a spear with longer range. It can be killed just like the Keiros.
- The Brontes is a giant black knight. This giant knight has massive range with its claymore and has an overhead stab that creates a huge shockwave. As with all the other knights, it is vulnerable to back attacks and simply wailing on it as it recovers from attacking; just careful of its huge range. Often when you fight these, you should also have the AAAS Hades combo unlocked, which easily destroys them.
- The Hyperion is a giant gold knight and the strongest of them all. It can take a lot of punishment and its overhead stab is actually a combo that can easily kill Rygar outright; use a summon ASAP if you are caught up in one. Otherwise, it is similar to the rest: vulnerable to back attacks, during a missed attack, and the AAAS Hades combo.
- Cyclops Family
- The Hammer Cyclops uses a massive warhammer. You can block all of its attacks save for an overhead smash. At close range it will use a 3-hit combo, the final hit being the unblockable smash. Block the first two hits and run to the side to avoid the second, then hit it a few times, then repeat. It's also vulnerable to attacks from behind, but watch out for a 360 degree swing it will usually attempt if you do so. If you don't kill these things quickly, they will enter a "berserk mode". They will march forward swinging their hammer endlessly, which is mostly unblockable, can easily juggle Rygar into corners/against walls for incredible damage. The only way to knock them out of it is a summon attack; without one, you will have to either make small strikes with Hades Diskarmor or slide/dash behind them and hit them carefully with combos.
- The Fighter Cyclops eschews the warhammer for straight melee combat. It has a shoulder tackle and several hooks and uppercuts. Most of its moves are blockable, including the shoulder tackle. The Sea Diskarmor's own comboing ability can easily go toe-to-toe with these creatures. Block their shoulder tackle, then aggressively attack with Sea combos.
- Doppelganger Family
- Charon is a doppelganger of Rygar that will periodically show up. He will always be blocking, vulnerable only when performing his combo strings. Easiest thing to do is simply hold block, wait for him to use a combo string and after Rygar blocks the last hit, start attacking. Knocking him down makes him perform a roar of anger that ironically leaves him vulnerable to free hits. Later in the game, unlockables such as AAAS Hades or even just the Sea Diskarmor will make short work of him.
- Phobos is a female counterpart to Charon. She fights the same, save for being less vulnerable after a missed combo. However, by the time she appears, you'll often have a buffed Rygar and have unlocked the AAAS Hades combo, if not other moves, that will make short work of her.
- Other Enemies
- Karkinos is a crab-like creature that comes in two variants. One throws bombs at Rygar while running away; kill these with long-range attacks. The other type chases after Rygar and attempts to bite him. You can block the bite which instantly stuns them. Both types are very vulnerable to Hades Diskarmor's Snap technique; one Snap throw will kill them, and the biting types will even be stunned if they try to bite Rygar while he is tossing an enemy. Fnally, both types explode when killed or even touched, so make sure to be careful not to ever let them be too close.
- Gigantes is essentially a demonic version of the Hammer Cyclop. The axes of the Giganti hit very hard, among the most damaging in the game, and they are also capable of going berserk. Slide behind them and hit them hard with Sea combos.

Colosseo Underground Canal
- After the opening cinema, follow the path out. At the fork, go left and break the pots for Sfaria, then head right.
- Sfaria checklist: 30P in the pots before the antechamber
- In the antechamber ahead, Rygar will be attacked by a mob of Rollers (caterpillar-like enemies). Defeat the Rollers. Try practicing using the Snap technique to slay them: hold down the A button and when you've latched onto one, swing the Wiimote repeatedly to whip them around and into each other.
- Destroy everything possible in the antechamber for more Sfaria, then move down the hall. You can use the glowing lion's head to save your game.
- Sfaria checklist: 40P inside various paraphernalia in the antechamber
- Move on and jump the steps to the dais at the top. Jump while standing on the dais to exit.
Colosseo 1F West
- Watch out for Rollers as you progress. Hug the opposite wall from the entrance and follow it south on the map. Break a rock jutting from the wall for a secret alcove with a Defense Shield, which increases Defense Power. Explore this area for Sfaria as well.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in statues on the south end; 20P in pots at the north end.
- Go back down into the Underground Canal and head to the antechamber. A secret battle with a horde of Rollers will ensue. Kill them and collect their Sfaira or Nectar (which restores health) if you need to. Among them will be a large Alpha Roller which can be killed for a Divine Armor, which increases your life meter maximum.
- Go back to 1F West and follow the path north. Take the stairs at the end.
Colosseo North Stair 2F
- Follow the path to the end and break the idol for the ability to slide (press down on the d-pad).
- Return to the stairs and watch out for new enemies: Harpuiais. Take them out with regular combos
- Sfaria checklist: 100P in a statue; 20P in statues by the stairs; 10P in a jug by the stairs
- Back at 1F West, follow the path south and watch out for new enemies. A new baddie, a tall knight named Kreios, will appear. To defeat him, run behind him and use the AAAA combo. If a hit from his sword is imminent, jump or slide out of the way. He will drop a Holy Sword, which increases Attack Power.
- At the end, slide through the chute to the far side. Use the save point and continue.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P dropped by a newly spawned Roller; 20P in jugs next to the save point
Colosseo South Stair 2F
- Head right, breaking through the rubble. A Harpuiai will attack; kill it and smash the nearby wall for a hidden Divine Armor.
- Continue on and a Hammer Cyclops will bust out of a wall and ambush Rygar. Block the first two hits of his 3 hit combo, run to the side to avoid the third hit, and attack him. Repeat. You want to kill him quickly before he goes beserk. If he does goes beserk, he'll swing his hammer wildly, becoming a serious threat. Immediately lure him to one side of the corridor and then run around his flank to attack his backside. He will drop a Holy Sword.
- The path onward is blocked by a white seal; Only Unicorn Idols can open these. Return to the stairs and take them upwards.
Colosseo South Stair 3F
- Watch out for the crushers. Always break the nearby pots, then use their location for a safe spot from the crushers.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P amongst the pots by the crushers.
- At the other end, press A to move the Unicorn Idol to open the white seal.
- Return to the white seal in South Stair 2F and take the door.
- Destroy all the statues above the steps outside. There is one hidden from view on the far left that has a Holy Sword. There is also a treasure idol that contains Tablet 1, a file that contains backstory for the game's plot.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in two of the statues here
- Follow the path on to a hole and drop down. In the corridor ahead, you will be attacked by a doppelganger of Rygar named Charon. To defeat him, just hold down the block button and let him attack; strike him down after he finishes his combos. He will take 2 or 3 full combo strings to defeat. You can get in free hits while he gets up and roars after being knocked down.
- Slide through the chute at the end and exit this corridor
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in jugs by the exit.
Colosseo Prison
- Go right at the fork into the prison. Go into the cell on the left for Ambrosia.
- Follow the corridor to the end. Kill all the enemies to unlock the Unicorn Idol. Use it. Watch out for more spawning enemies afterward, including an Alpha Roller that will drop a Divine Armor.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in the cell with Ambrosia; 10P in a weapons rack along the corridor;10P in jugs near the Unicorn Idol.
- Go back to the fork and take the left route. Slide through the hole in the wall.
- Kill the Rollers and use the save point. Climb up using the hanging box and from there to the steps leading to the exit.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in weapon racks next to the save point
BOSS: Hekatonchieres
- The boss' weak point is the horse statue. Initially, the safest place to be is standing directly in front the horse statue itself, in between its hooves. Rygar will be safe from all attacks save for the horse kicking its hooves (which you can simply block). Even the horse's flame breath will just pass harmlessly overhead.
- After losing half its health, the boss will morph and increase power. All of their attacks are now constant whether or not Rygar is in range and the horse statue's flame breath can only be avoided if you are out of range or slide under it from the left-hand side of its right hoof (note that doing so will put you in range of the god statue's shockwave). If Rygar still has a good amount of health left and has collected a lot of Holy Swords, you can simply trade hits with the boss until it dies.
South Courtyard
- Demolish everything here, seeking Sfaria, then head up the steps. You can smash the nearby treasure idol for "Ancient Tablet 2", a file.
- Sfaria checklist: 100P in a birdbath-like structure; 10P in another birdbath next to the 100P
- Head to the top of the steps for a save point, then go left. Follow the steps up and then go to the right at the fork. Rygar will drop down into a grassy area.
- Move forward and break the pot at the dead end for a Galley Item, then follow the path to the left back to the save point.
- Go back up the steps past the save point and take the left route at the fork. Jump the gap when the steps crumble.
Geryon Hill
- Move forward and take out the Hyacinthi (the plant-like humanoid creatures). Follow the path straight ahead without deviating and you should encounter a treasure idol with a Divine Shield.
- Sfaria checklist: 40P amongst the statues at the start of this area, 80P in the columns in front of the Divine Shield, 40P in the orange pots.
- Go back and look for a grassy ledge on the left you can climb on. Drop down from the ledge to a small area with four orange pots. Break one of them for a Galley Item.
- Sfaria checlist: 10P in a pot next to a Galley Item.
- Follow the steps back to where the Divine Shield was, then take the steps across from the grassy ledge upwards. Watch out for Hyacinthi. At the top is a Plasmacinthus, which is able to fire projectiles. It will drop a Holy Sword when killed.
- With all the enemies killed, look for a gap in the left-hand stair rail. Follow it to a Unicorn Idol and use it to open the white seal. Enter the open door.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in an orange pot lying in the middle of the stairs; 60P in the columns near the Plasmacinthus.
- Explore the new area, searching for Sfaria. Then take the steps by the save point down to a Unicorn Idol. Use it.
- Sfaria checklist: 30P in orange pots scattered around the atrium; 20P in urns in front of the Unicorn Idol
- Go back to the save point and walk towards its right (Rygar's left, if he is facing it). Follow it to a stone arch, then look for a passage on the right, a little in front of the stone arch. Break the orange pot in there for a Galley Item.
- Drop down from the nearby cliff and Rygar should land in a small area with an urn containing Divine Armor.
- Drop down again and you will land in a nest of Rollers. Kill them, then follow the path to an immediate dead-end on the right. Break the urns hidden nearby for a Holy Sword.
- Follow the grassy path back to the entrance to the pavillion where the Unicorn Idol was stored. Then look for an urn underneath the collapsed bridge for a Galley Item.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P right next to the Holy Sword; 10P in urns in front of the entrance to the pavillion with the Unicorn Idol.
- Take the steps where the white seal had been blocking. In the next area, follow the catwalk with columns to a new save point. Nearby is a gold column; you may smash it down and it will create a bridge, however the way past it is block with a white seal.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in one of the columns on the catwalk; 30P in urns that are on either side of the catwalk; 50P in various columns in the pool; 50P in columns scattered around the gold column, including a small one right next to the save point and a counterpart on the opposite side.
- Follow the path to a passage with red columns. Jump the gap on the other end and destroy the birdbath for a Galley Item.
- Jump the next gap towards the collapsed rooftops. Charon will attack again, often taking the fight to the mini-maze below, and with Hyacinthi sometimes joining the fray. Kill him for a Divine Shield.
- Sfaria checklist: 50P in the dark columns above the steps to the left of the walkway with the red columns; 80P in the red columns; 100P will be dropped by one of the Hyacinthi aiding Charon here; 130P in urns underneath the ledges holding up the fallen rooftops; 10P in a lone urn in the maze you battle Charon in; 30P a batch of urns to the left of the dark columns.
- Make your way past the gaps and kill any Hyacinthi left guarding the Unicorn Idol in the courtyard ahead. Use the idol, and enter the unlocked door.
- Sfaria checklist: 30P in statues just past the gaps; 40P in birdbaths in front of the Unicorn Idol; 50P in the orange urns in this area; 130P in the orange columns.
Elysion Shrine Rear Entrance
- Use the save point, then head left on the map. Break the treasure idol in the dead end for a Caduceaus, a valuable item that automatically restores a defeated Rygar with full life and icol. However, watch out for Harpuiais spawning after collecting it.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P near the save point; 100P hidden in the stone relief above the save point; 40P in pots near the treasure idol
- Take the stairs near the save point upwards. At the top, kill the Harpuiais and the Plasmacinthus for a Divine Armor. Search one of the urns here for a Gallery Item as well. Take the door here when finished.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in a urn near the Plasmacinthus; 20P in a stone columns next to the door
- Next area: follow the steps up to a grey hall with a Unicorn Idol. Kill all the Harpuiais to unlock it, then use the idol. Kill the Keiros that appears guarding the exit afterwards for a Holy Sword.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in stones right next to the entrance; 50P in urns in the grey hall; 50P in stone coffins in the grey hall;
- Enter the newly unlocked path. You will need to knock down a few columns to make bridges to the other side. Watch out for a Plasmacinthus sniping here; he will drop a Divine Shield. Falling down will land you in the room with the Caduceaus.
- At the other end, slide under the slab with the glowing wing emblem and immediately slide again to avoid a sneak ambush from a Keiros and two Hyacinthi. Take them down and get a Divine Armor from the Keiros. Enter the door when finished.
- Sfaria checklist: 150P in the various urns in this room with the Keiros; 10P in a column by the exit
- Climb the steps in the next area and you will now fight a tougher version of the Keiros: the Iapeto. Fortunately he cannot follow Rygar through the archway and is easy prey. Kill it for a Holy Sword, and watch out for Harpuiais as you reach and slide under another slab with a glowing wing emblem.
- On the other side is Charon again, with Harpuiais appearing if you get too close to the door on the opposite side Smash the lion's head on the wall before leaving for a Gallery Item.
- Move on down the path to the save point. Don't open the urns if you are at full health; save the nectar inside for after the coming boss battle.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in a column by the entrance; 50P in urns; 50P in coffins; 10P in a lion's head on the wall; 30P in the brown stone columns on the wall; 20P in urns in front of the save point; 10P in a stone column next to doorway just past Charon.
BOSS: Icarus
- Icarus has a forcefield that drops only when he is in the middle of attacking. You can bait him into missing an attack and counterattack him, or if Rygar is healthy enough, you can simply back Rygar into a corner and trade hits with Icarus. The optimum position is in front of the purplish crucible on the right, with Rygar's back to the wall. His attacks will hurt but the wall will keep Rygar in range for hit trading. Often times Icarus will also get stuck on the other side of the crucible, swinging at thin air and allowing you to hit him. He will flee after losing half his health.
- You will get the Hades Diskarmor after defeating Icarus, replacing your standard Diskarmor. It can summon Cerberus by pressing C and B at the same time. You may also finally begin using your Sfaria to upgrade it. Do so immediately. If possible, upgrade it to its maximum level.
- Smash all the objects for items. Look for Divine Armor in the large columns to the west on the map.
- When finished, save the game, press A while standing in front of the Hades Crucible (the crucible with the purple flame), then touch the nearby Purple Seal (do NOT attack it, simply walk into the seal). It will be unlocked and another boss battle will begin.
- Sfaria checklist: 80P in the row of columns on the east end of the map; 40P in the row of columns on the west end of the map; 40P in the mossy pedestals in the center.
BOSS: Sphinx
- On the ground, he has three attacks. He will rear up on his legs and then fire either a spread of spark balls or larger ones that home in on Rygar. The spread shots are very damamging and you MUST avoid it at all costs by jumping over the shots, or sliding behind Sphinx before he fires. The homing shots do much less damage, and can be avoided either by sliding behind Sphinx before he fires or moving away from them. He will also sometimes throw out a discharge from his body that hurts if you are touching him. Get in as many combos as you can while he is on the ground, and use Cerberus summons as well.
- Periodically Sphinx will flee to the top of the structure in the center to begin a new pattern. First he will fire two spread shots; these also really hurt. Slide past them, preferably from the outside lip of the arena towards the center. After this he will fire tracking shots that will follow Rygar from above and then drop down onto him; simply keeping moving to avoid getting it. He will finally end the pattern by creating a ring of sparks on the ground, then teleporting into their center, creating a shockwave. Simply stay out of the ring of sparks and be prepared to combo him after he teleports.
- When he is almost dead, he will follow the teleport up with an illusory attack: Four Sphinx masks will spin rapidly around Rygar, with only one being real. You must hit the true mask quickly to break the illusion before Sphinx launches a massive blast that really hurts; just keep performing the AAAA combo repeatedly and you should hopefully strike the true mask.
Palace of the Three Warriors
- After killing Sphinx, you will receive the Heavenly Diskarmor. This weapon is somewhat slower than the Hades Diskarmor and lacks a Snap move, but has a massive sweeping range that covers Rygar's flanks, even rear. The ABBSr combo is also very effective; on the final Sr Rygar will spin forward swinging the Diskarmor up to 4 times, wiping out entire crowds. It is probably preferable, however, to continue upgrading Hades first until it reaches maximum.
- Before leaving, search the area for items. There is Divine Armor and Ambrosia in the onyx obelisks. At the south end are hidden steps you can climb up to collect a Gallery Item, however, you will not have the ability to collect two other items up there at this time.
- Sfaria checklist: 130P in the onyx obelisks surrounding the center structure.
BOSS: Sphinx Soul
- Once you leave, Sphinx will ambush you yet again as a floating spirit. Its still uses the spread shot, and this time is more careful to aim at Rygar if he is airborne. It also drops a homing spark which will pursue Rygar endlessly until he blocks it or is struck. The attacks will smash down the pillars here which in turn drop Nectar for you to use.
- This boss is simple. Quickly run over to it and smack it with the Hades Diskarmor (do not use Heavenly as it is too slow). When it takes damage, it will turn black and then teleport to another location; quickly find it and strike it again before it fires. If the Sphinx Soul is about to fire a spread shot, concentrate on dodging the shot instead, either by jumping or sliding, as it usually can't be struck out of its animation at this point anyway. A good trick is to bait it into firing the spread shot into the air by jumping early, then run underneath the shots and pound it with an AAAA combo for huge damage.
- When its dead, you will find yourself back at an earlier save point in Main Field. You can return to the Elysium Shrine at any point from this area; do so and smash the fallen sandstone obelisk right in front of the entrance for a Gallery Item.
- Go up the steps to the left of the save point in Main Field. You will be back at the small pond with the columns; A cutscene should play, showing two flames appearing out of Heavenly Crucibles, next to the gold column you may have knocked down before entering the Elysian Shrine.
- Watch out for the two Charons here and knock down the gold column if you haven't already. Then equip the Heavenly Diskarmor, press A on the Heavenly Crucible and touch the yellow seal to dispel it. Continue on.
Poseidonia Shrine Outside
- A new version of the Hyacinthus, the Aguacinthus, lurks in this area. They can fire freezing blasts and are aggressive with melee combat up close; always make sure to keep them separated and kill each one quickly. Note that Rygar cannot enter deep water.
- Sfaria checklist: 110P in the columns on the two dais near the entrance; 30P in columns near the Aguacinthi
- Head to the left towards the waterfall. Run to the right of the waterfall, then take the left fork and slide under the obstruction. There is a a Gallery Item nearby in a treasure idol.
- Return to the waterfall and this time run through it. Follow the path to a Unicorn Idol above the waterfall and activate it.
- More Aguacinthi will appear. Take them out and go up the steps to the next area: the Heaven Room.
- In the Heaven Room, take the left path on the fork to the Sun Room.
Sun Room
- Drop down into the gap below. Kill all of the Cruel Harpuiais (slightly tougher versions of the Harpuiais).
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in the columns before the gap.
- Take the doorway nearby and follow the long path to a new area: Tower Of The Sun. Ignore the treasure idol you may spot here, you cannot collect it yet.
- In the Tower Of The Sun, save the game, then smash the glowing object on the wall. A cutscene will play of something breaking in the distance.
- Go back into the Sun Room. You must now move quickly to destroy the newly risen walls in your path before Rygar is pushed into the spikes in the ceiling. The best method is to use the Heavenly Diskarmor's ABBSr combo repeatedly.
- After reaching the end, the Sun Room will flood and Rygar can now cross the gap into the Hall Of The Sun.
- Phobos, a tougher (and female) version of Charon will attack here, aided by Cruel Harpuiais. Take her down much as you would Charon, then use the Unicorn Idol.
- Return to the Heaven Room and take the now-open right fork
Moon Room
- Once again, you will need to jump down into the gap. Watch for Aguacinthi and proceed to the next area. Look for Omphalos in a stone column by the exit (it refills all your Icol)
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in the columns before the gap; 10P in a column next to the Omphalos.
- Enter the next room for the final Diskarmor: the Sea Diskarmor. Arguably the best diskarmor for regular combat, it has fast, powerful combos. Return back the way you came.
- Outside of the Sea Diskarmor room is Iepato and yet a new variant of the giant knights: Brontes, a black version with a powerful fast swing. Like all the knights, bait him into attacking, move/jump out of the way, then counter with combos. Just beware that he has HUGE range, particularly with the overhead chop. Deal with Iepato and the Aguacinthi first. This Brontes will drop a Holy Sword.
The Hook Ability
- Your goal now is to return to the Sun Room. The water should be lowered once again. Head to the area in front of the Tower of the Sun and you should spot a new hole in the wall that will give you access to the treasure idol you could not reach earlier. Break it for a Gallery Item.
- Head down the tunnel path opposite from the Tower of the Sun. At the end of the tunnel is a Brontes; kill it and climb the steps. Also, from Brontes' starting position, enter the alcove third on the right for a secret room containing an Ares mystic stone, which increases Attack power.
- At the top, slide through the hole in the wall next to the Sea Crucible, and break the treasure idol beyond for the mystic stone Hephaestus, which grants you Build Up Points every time you kill enemies. Equip the stone to all your Diskarmors.
- Use the Sea Crucible to enchant your Sea Diskarmor, then run back down the tunnel to dispel the blue seal. Avoid any enemies in your path on the way.
- The new path will lead back to the Hall of the Sun. Kill all the Cruel Harpuiais that ambush, then walk towards the blue seal. Look for rocks to climb up on your right, then follow the path to a Sea Crucible. Use it to dispel the blue seal.
- Past the blue seal is a gold treasure idol containing the Hook ability. All of your Diskarmors can now latch onto floating purple orbs called "Hooks", dragging Rygar across gaps (face a Hook and when it glows, press A). Use the nearby Hooks to reach a treasure idol holding Letter 4, and another pair of Hooks by the Sea Crucible to reach Vellum Scroll 6.
- Return to the Moon Room and use the Hooks to cross the gap. Inside is a Fighter Cyclops and a horde of Aguacinthi. Trading hits with the highly aggressive Fighter Cyclops using the Sea Diskarmor is the fastest, simplest way to dispose of it. Kill the rest of the Aguacinthi; after the battle you should have gained Divine Shield and Divine Armor as loot.
- Sfaria checklist: 110P in the columns in this room
- Near the save point are rocks you can climb. Use them to reach a pair of Hooks that let you reach Vellum Scroll 7, then use the Sea Crucible to dispel the blue seal. Break the treasure idol for Ambrosia, then use the nearby floating platforms to reach a teleportation seal.
BOSS: Cetus
- He begins simple enough. Use the Hades Diskarmor and just pound away with AAAA combos. This will disrupt his ice breath attack, allowing you to punish him even more. When you hear a screech, Cetus will begin to smash apart your platform with belly flops; switch to the Sea Diskarmor, use Tracer (hold A), and run towards the camera away from Cetus. He will take damage from the Diskarmor as he swims through it; release A after he passes it to regain your Diskarmor and do more damage. As you run from Cetus' belly flops, you may have to jump and slash rocks in your way. When he stops belly flopping, continue using AAAA combos on him. With this pattern, you probably will not see any of his other attacks.
- When he is near death, he will constantly perform the belly flops, stopping only long enough to flip in the air and fire a slew of water blasts. Finish him off with Tracer, or with high-level Cerberus summons when he's in range.
Labyrinthos Palace Outside
- After the boss fight with Cetus, you will be in this new area, on a beach. Break the walls in the dead end to the right of the rightmost green-hued torch for Nectar. Break the columns for more Nectar and a Gallery Item. Save and continue.
- After the cutscene, take out the Hyacinthi. Look for a destroyable wall on the west end of the courtyard, near the stone troughs. The mystic stone Nemesis is inside, which unlocks the Knockback Cancel technique (press A while getting knocked back by damage).
- Two Hyperions, the strongest version of the giant knights, will ambush Rygar in the center. Take them down the same way as other knights, bait them into attacking and try to stay behind them. They are unique for having high health and a brutal combo with their overhead stabs that can kill Rygar outright if the player is not careful.
- After the area is cleared, look for a trio of crumbling pillars on the west side of the map and destroy them. This will open access to a Unicorn Idol. Use it to open up a hole in the center of the map.
- Before leaving, smash the lattice gate behind one of the two Minotaur statues for an Ares mystic stone. If you have an Ares stone already, it will be automatically upgraded. The other Minotaur statue has an Athena mystic stone which increases defense. Finally, climb the nearby steps and follow them to the top for a Hook to use; it leads to a gold treasure idol that grants Rygar the powerful AAAS combo for the Hades Diskarmor.
- Sfaria checklist: 120P in the slabs in front of one of the Minotaur statues, 10P inside one of the Minotaur statues.
Huge Stairway
- Make sure to break the stone slabs on each "step" of the Huge Stairway for items. One contains a Gallery Item.
- At the bottom, look for a door underneath the steps for the Lift/Swing ability. You can now use Red and Yellow floating orbs (called "Lifts" and "Swings") to access new areas. Smash the stone blocks nearby; one holds a Holy Sword.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P in the stone slabs on the steps; 150P total in the stone blocks at the bottom of the steps.
- Look for a Lift next to the base step and use it. Use the series of Lifts to ascend back up the steps. At the top is a Swing; use it (press A in the air while in range) to swing over to a floating platform. Follow the series of swings and platforms to a treasure idol with Ambrosia.
- From the platform with Ambrosia, jump straight off the southmost edge and you should land on a platform with the Unicorn Idol (if you miss, use the Lift at the base step to reach it normally). Use it. A Brontes and Hyperion will appear; with the AAAS Hades combo the knights are now easy fodder.
Labyrinthos Palace 1F
- Smash all the orange stone slabs here; one has a Gallery Item .
- Sfaria checklist: 300P in the orange stone slabs on the catwalks
- At the end of the line, use the Unicorn Idol, then drop down the nearby hole. Smash through all the walls in your way and look for a Gallery Item and Tablet 3 in large urns.
- Use the Hooks to cross the gap and continue. A Fighter Cyclops will ambush you behind a wall; they are very weak to the Sea Diskarmor like most of their kind. It will drop a Divine Shield. Continue on to Right Tower.
Right Tower 1F
- Follow the path along the ring of rooms straight to the end; do not take the door leading outside in the second room just yet. In the third room is a mob of Harpuiais and a Hammer Cyclops. Like the Fighter Cyclops, you need simply get behind him and pound away with the Sea Diskarmor. Killing all the enemies unlocks a Unicorn Idol; use it.
- Before leaving, use the secret tunnel at the end of the third room to enter the fourth room, which contains Letter 2 and Divine Armor.
- Sfaria checklist: 250P in various urns and coffins throughout in the ring of rooms.
- Exit via the door in the second room and cross the bridge to the Left Tower. Halfway across a big ambush involving a Hyperion and a large horde of Harpuiais will occur. The Hyperion will drop a Holy Sword.
Left Tower 1F
- Search the ground for items, then climb up to a series of Swings using the platform steps by the entrance to the second room. Use the Unicorn Idol at the end of the series of Swings.
- Sfaria checklist: 140P in various coffins and urns on the ground in the ring of rooms.
- Enter the center room via a doorway south of the platform steps used to reach the Swings. Use the series of Lifts here to ascend the gearworks to the second floor.
Left Tower 2F
- Save the game at the save point. If you have been diligent about collecting Sfaria and have been using Hephaestus, you should have enough to upgrade a Diskarmor to maximum level; upgrading the Sea Diskarmor first is arguably the best choice although the AAAS Hades combo is helpful.
- Head east and search the objects here for Tanatos, a very helpful mystic stone that grants random Critical Hits. Equip it on all Diskarmors ASAP.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P next to the object holding Tanatos
- Head west along the ring. To avoid the laser trap, follow it to the exit and use the Lift above to let it pass harmlessly underneath you as it travels back.
- The next room sees you traveling across floating platforms while avoiding another laser trap. Again, wait for the laser trap to reach its east-most point, then follow it to the Lift and use it to avoid the trap as it returns. Once it passes, hurry to the exit.
- Kill the Cyclops in the next room for a Divine Shield. A Gallery Item is in one of the objects here. Use the Unicorn Idol and exit.
- Sfaria checklist: 30P in the Unicorn Idol room.
- Use the Swings and floating platforms to cross the void back to the Right Tower.
Right Tower 2F
- Search this room for a Divine Armor, then use the Sea Crucible and head left.
- Jump over the laser traps and reach the blue seal with the Sea Crucible's charm still in effect.
- In the next room, you will be attacked by Charon and Phobos. Like the knights, they are VERY weak to the AAAS combo from Hades. Kill them and use the Unicorn Idol.
- Take the door nearby into the gearworks of the structure and head to the third floor using the Lifts as before.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in the first room, 120P in the room with Charon and Phobos
Right Tower 3F
- Do not worry too much about falling as it simply brings you back to the save point here without penalty. Wait for the first blade trap to pass south before using the Hook, then head north to another Hook and use it.
- Make your way forward and after the second Hook you use, wait for a blade trap to again pass south before Hooking to its catwalk. Run north and use the Hook there to escape to the other side.
- Continue on. You will spot two torches and a white seal. Note the location but keep moving forward.
- Cross the gap just past the white seal and wait for a FAST moving blade trap on the other side. This trap moves very quickly every seconds, resting otherwise in a corner north. Wait for it to spring, then rest. When it's resting, move quickly to the Unicorn Idol opposite from it and use it. Exit through the portal that was blocked by the white seal.
Left Tower 3F
- There is a gold treasure idol here containing a AAASr combo for Sea Diskarmor. It allows you to charge up a massive auto-combo after the AAA swings; the charge-up leaves Rygar very vulnerable but it does big damage and Rygar is invulnerable during the auto-combo.
- Move forward and jump over the laser traps. Break any pillars that the Plasmacinthi are camping on and kill them.
- In the last room, find the Nectar amongst the objects but do NOT collect it unless you need it. Touch the Unicorn Idol to start a battle with some Harpuiais and a new enemy: the Gigantes. This enemy is a lot more fearsome that its Cyclops counterpart. Run up to him and jump over his swipe behind him, then pound away. The AAAS combo for Sea and Hades also works well. Kill the Harpuiais if they get in the way.
- When all are killed, use the Unicorn Idol. Search the objects for a Gallery Item. Then exit and cross the bridge to the Altar.
- Sfaria checklist: 160P in the first room, 140P in the room with the Unicorn Idol
- In the Altar, save at the save point, then step in the middle of the sand patch to drop into a sinkhole to a boss.
BOSS: Minotaur
- Very simple with the Sea Diskarmor. Wait for him to attack, then slide behind him to avoid the hit, then start pounding away with Sea combos while he recovers. Block after finishing a combo. He will usually respond to close combat with a shockwave slam or flick of his tail; both are blockable and do little damage anyway if your defense rating is good. If you have Demeter, equip it as it will lessen the damage of getting hurled into walls and floors. Keep at him and remember that his sword is dangerous to the touch, even if it is not moving.
- As he is near death, Minotaur will respond with more varied attacks, but the only notable one is a rushing slash that does big damage. The rushing slash is telegraphed by a long, almost slow-motion animation before he finally flies forward with the strike. You can avoid it completely by using a summon or hitting him with the AAASr Sea combo as Rygar is invulnerable during the auto-combo. Otherwise, keep sliding past his attacks, get behind him, and combo.
- When he is dead, step towards the altar for a cutscene. Afterward, destroy the masonry to the left of the altar for Nectar, then use the elevator by the altar to reach a new area.
Othrys Mountain
- Lots of small rocks and masonry are breakable in this world, make sure to try breaking everything. One of the rocks near the start has nectar. Climb upwards for a save point. One of the rocks near the save point has a Holy Sword
- Sfaria checklist: 250P in the rocks and stone in the area below the save point; 260P in rocks and stone around the save point
- Go right and eventually the terrain will collapse, dropping Rygar into a pit with Magma Rollers and Phobos. Defeat them to unlock Lifts to leave the pit.
- Past the pit are some rocks which contain a Gallery Item. Collect it and continue forward.
- Sfaria checklist: 30P in the same rockpile holding a Gallery Item.
Halfway Up
- This area has a battle with Phobos, Magma Rollers, and new enemies: spider-like creatures called Karkinoses. There are two variants: those that hurl small exploding rocks while running away and those that chase down Rygar. All types explode when struck or even touched. Destroy them with a long-range attack if possible. Phobos will drop a Holy Sword
- After killing them move upwards and follow the route along the mountainside. There will be two pit traps along the way. The first involves a battle with Bombos. Quick Hades combos or the AAB Heavenly combo works well. The second involves a combination of Magma Rollers, Karkinoses, and a Charon. The Charon will drop Divine Armor.
- In the same pit trap with the Charon is a gold treasure idol that unlocks the AASr combo for the Heavenly Diskarmor. This is one of the best crowd control moves in the game assuming the enemies do not disrupt Rygar's charge-up.
- If there any giant boulders blocking your way, destroy them from long range with Hades and watch out for avalanches that occur after each one is destroyed.
- Sfaria checklist: 240P total in various rocks throughout this map.
- In the next area, smash up the rockpile by the entrance for Vellum Scroll 1. In the column just north is a Gallery Item. North of that is a big Stomp Switch and giant boulder you cannot interact with yet.
- To the right of Vellum Scroll 1 is a secret area. You must knock down the ornate column across the gap to reach it. The best method is to simply use the ABBS Hades combo to snag it; it will collapse and make a bridge, giving you access to a Gallery Item and Clotho, a mystic stone that doubles the amount of Icol collected from Pneuma as well as extra Icol from killing enemies.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in the rockpile where Vellum Scroll 1 is hidden; 10P next to the Gallery Item; 150P in the secret area; 20P in rocks by the big switch.
- To continue, take the southern exit and drop down the cliffs. The Telesphere here will take you back to Main Field. Before using it, knock down the ornate column on the right to create a shortcut between the Telesphere and the entrance to Mt. Othrys.
- Sfaria checklist: 160P total in objects around the Telesphere
Main Field Isolated Zone
- Smash through the wall on the right and collect Nectar. Then follow the path forward. The bridge will collapse; simply keep moving and use Lifts to get back up and to the other side. To reach the orange pot across the gap from the Lift, use the ABBS Hades combo to both smash the pot and snag the Divine Shield.
- Continue following the path. A Gallery Item is in one of the moss-covered vases on the stair rails in this area. Smash down the wall blocking the path to the Sea Crucible and gain the enchantment
- Sfaria checklist: 100P for one of the moss-covered vases on the stair rails.
- The path dead ends into an area you can scale upwards from. Run from the enemies. A treasure idol on the way for Vellum Scroll 8. At the top, you can run past the 4 columns all the way to the left then drop down onto the fenced path you can see running from your plateau. The path leads to a orange urn holding a Holy Sword.
- Ultimately you want to bring the Sea enchantment over to the blue seal that is just beyond the plateau, up the steps from the half-buried orange urns. The opened path leads back to Geryon Hill
- Sfaria checklist: 50P in the half-buried orange urns.
Main Field Grand Mountain
- Follow the familiar path back to the entrance to Posiedina Shrine (highlighted in the cutscene you just say). Use the Lift by the save point to access Grand Mountain.
- Follow the linear route through the valley using the Lifts and Swings. When you come across a pair of Swings and a Lift over a bridge, ignore the Swings and just cross the bridge, then climb up the grassy knoll under the Lift.
- Sfaria checklist: 120P in the big orange urns on your route
- On the way up the peak, grab a Gallery Item in a large solitary urn. At the summit, use the Lifts to reach the highest peak, and smash the gold idol for the Stomp ability (down on the d-pad while in mid-air).
- Use your new Stomp power to crush the Stomp Switches on the peak. This will open up access to a treasure idol with a Holy Sword and a special "Zip Lift" that you can use as a shortcut back down the mountain.
Extra Items
- You can also now collect the items that had been previously inaccessible Start with the Elysium Shrine; Return to it from Main Field Geryon Hill (where you fought Sphinx Soul), and enter the Palace of the 3 Warriors.
- Look for steps hidden in the back to climb to the atrium above, and use the two Swings to collect a Gallery Item and Aphrodite, a mystic stone that heals Rygar every time he uses a summon.
- Head back to Main Field and run to the other side of this map. You may recall the collapsing bridge here. Use the Hook to traverse to the other side where a Telesphere is. This Telesphere will warp you to Labyrinthos Palace, in case you missed something there.
- Look for an orange pot to the left and below the court holding the Telesphere that contain a Divine Armor.
- There is a second pot to the right of the Telesphere that seems out of reach. To get to it, return to the spot where you collected a Gallery Item, and look for a Swing orb nearby. Jump towards it and swing over to an archway top. Follow the archway over to the jug which holds Hermes, a mystic stone that allows you to dash by sliding while holding the block button (add it to your defensive Diskarmor).
Back to Mt. Othrys
- Make your way back to the Telesphere in the Main Field Isolated Zone. In the Isolated Zone, hit the first Stomp Switch you come across. It will open up access to a treasure idol you can reach by dropping down to it from the same path that held the Holy Sword in this area. The idol has the mystic stone Persephone, which causes the Hades Diskarmor's Snap move to automatically throw the victim in the direction the player is aiming the analog.
- Continue on to the next Stomp Switch and trigger it to unlock the route back up to the Telesphere.
- Back at Mt. Othrys, use the column bridge by the Telesphere to make your way to this world's first save point. West of the save point is a Stomp Switch; use it to unlock a treasure idol holding Nike, a mystic stone that unlocks the Guard Cancel technique (press A while blocking to automatically counterattack)
- Next, return to the Telesphere and use the Lifts to scale to the top. Head north and use the Stomp Switch to open a path to the bottom-half of the Magma Cave. Get ready for a boss battle.
BOSS: Boa
- It will simply pop out of the lava and fire a stream of flame, then repeat. The big island in the center is where you are intended to fight it, although you can retreat to other areas of the cavern for safe spots.
- The best solution is to stand in the "southwest" corner of the island (from the perspective of the camera angle). If you are in the correct position, Boa will burst of the lava right in front of Rygar and fire flames harmlessly over his head. Hit him with AAA Hades combo repeatedly as he does so. Most other combos will either send Rygar tumbling into the lava or will not do as much damage in the long run. He does not have much defense and the combos will kill him quick. Powered-up Siren summons also do big damage to it (hold C and tap B multiple times).
Lower Magma Cave
- Explore the catacomb before leaving. You can find a Gallery Item, a Holy Sword, and Vellum Scroll 3 hidden in the objects here.
- Once finished, climb up the rocks at the north end and carefully move along the path. A Gallery Item can be found in a column half-buried in the lava. Follow the path out.
- Sfaria checklist: There is roughly 80P in Sfaria but the dangerous terrain and the fact that some will fall into the lava makes it a good idea to ignore it.
- At the outside path, kill the Karkinoses with Hades, and break the objects, collecting Vellum Scroll 4 and Nectar. You may have enough Sfaria at this point to max out your final Diskarmor. Save and get ready for another boss.
- Sfaria checklist: 320P scattered across the various rocks and objects in this map.
BOSS: Centaur
- Always stay on his tail. He will run to opposite ends of the arena and fire arrows. Follow him mercilessly to where he stops (use Hermes' dashes, if you have to) and clobber him with Sea combos. It is completely safe to fight him at close combat, even in front of him. Just don't let him run you over when he starts moving again.
- After losing half his life, he will loop around the center section of the arena and fire arrows directly at Rygar, or high into the air to rain down on Rygar's position. You cannot block arrows raining from above, but you can block the ones coming straight at Rygar. Simply stay put in his looping and hold block. Wait for him to come and let him have a Sea combo. If he fires an arrow rain volley, dodging with slides or Hermes dashes.
- When he's dead, take the only exit to a room with a hole in the floor. Break the rock on the right of the hole with Hades. Use the step it leaves behind to cross the hole and get an Athena stone.
- Drop down the hole afterwards to the Mountain Trail and follow the path, breaking objects. One will have Vellum Scroll 2. Take the exit for a cutscene.
- Sfaria checklist: 30P in the various objects on the Mountain Trail.
Upper Magma Cave
- After the cutscene, you will be in the upper-area of the Magma Cave. Smash the objects on the left for a Divine Shield. Falling down here will land you back in the Lower Magma Cave, however, you can use a newly spawned Lift in a dead-end on the far south-east of the catacomb to climb back up. Take the passage left back to the Mountain Trail.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P next to the Divine Shield.
- In the next cave, use the ledges to climb upwards. Ignore the Tackle Boxes for now and head outside.
- You are now on top of cliffs above the Mountain Trail. Count the gaps in the cliff you jump over and drop down the third gap. You will land on a ledge holding Hera, a mystic stone that increases the range of the Heavenly Diskarmor's Remote attack (hold A, or press A, then hold A).
- Follow the cliffside to its very end and break the rock outcropping at the end. Move forward and the camera angle will change. Walk off the right-hand side cliff and you should land on a ledge with a gold idol containing the fearsome AAAAS Sea combo.
- Finally, follow the cliffside and jump to the big rock shelf with grass and steps. You will now be in Arcadia.
Lion's Road South
- Falling here fortunately just brings Rygar back to the previous "checkpoint" (unless you are playing on Legendary Mode, in which case, you will die and have to restore from your last save). Follow the path of floating boulders to the Zip Lift and use it.
- Follow the floating boulders to a floating cave. Break the stalactite here for a Gallery Item.
- Use the floating stone to float over to a new area. Jump onto the "Ferris Wheel" of floating stones and disembark at the second stop to collect a Holy Sword hidden in a pillar and Notus, a mystic stone that makes Rygar invulnerable while descending from a Stomp.
- Ride the Ferris Wheel of boulders again and this time disembark on the first stop. This island has a Divine Armor hidden inside a pillar and a floating boulder that will warp Rygar to an island with a Zip Lift to a new area.
- Sfaria checklist: 10P next to the Divine Armor
- Jump on the boulder "elevator" and ride it to two paths composed of floating rocks and more boulder lifts. Take the right-hand path; the left-hand path will just send you back to the previous areas. Halfway through the route you should find Ancient Tablet 1. Use the Lift to climb up the island when the boulder lift passes under it.
- Stand on the steps next to Ancient Tablet 1's spot and wait for another boulder lift to arrive. Ride it and jump onto the island ahead or you will be pushed off. Jump from the island back onto the boulder lift as it passes underneath the island.
- The boulder lift will reach other island. Jump onto it before Rygar is pushed off. Leap to another boulder lift, then jump down onto the island below for a cutscene.
Lion's Road North
- Use the series of Swings to reach the other side of the void, minding the floating boulder on the way.
- Jump onto another "Ferris Wheel" of rocks and ride it upwards to another floating boulder and climb aboard.
- Follow the path of boulder lifts to a small island in the middle of nowhere. It will warp Rygar to Arcadia.
Arcadia Entrance
- Take down Phobos and Charon here, then continue. There is plenty of hidden nectar, including in the giant rock hill itself where you fight Charon and Phobos.
- Enter the next room and head left. Smack the floating pebbles for ahead of the Lift for a Gallery Item. Then climb the floating bricks underneath the Lift and use it.
- Move forward and use the Swing to reach the big staircase. Do not go up or down the staircase though, just keep going straight.
- At the gap, drop down into the area with the electrical equipment. Follow the path to the right and slide through the gap. Kill a Gigantes in a VERY tight room here, pick up the Divine Shield he drops, and collect the Tackle ability (press UP on the D-pad).
- You now can shove Tackle Boxes, and now have access to every item and area in the game. Push both Tackle Boxes here out of their holes and take the exit that leads to the stream below.
- Follow the stream to the end and Tackle the box here. Climb the box and stand close to the floating island ahead, and press A. Rygar should latch onto a Lift that is somewhat offscreen and land on the island. The island will float high into the sky. When it stops, jump off to the right and then push up. If you push up too soon, Rygar will be blocked by a barrier and land back on the Tackle Box below, or land in the electrical room, or possibly off a cliff. You must time your press upwards so that Rygar lands on a tiny section of stable cliffside on a big rock above the electrical room. Then follow the cliffside carefully around till it drops Rygar in a secret room containing a treasure idol with Boreas, a mystic stone that makes Rygar invulnerable while tackling.
- When finished, go back to the big staircase and climb to the top for a boss.
BOSS: True Icarus
- Icarus has three forcefields now: red, blue, and yellow. The color forcefield denotes what Diskarmor he is currently invulnerable to (red for Hades, blue for Sea, yellow for Heavenly), so watch his forcefield carefully to see what Diskarmor type he is invulnerable to. In addition he has a homing spark attack, a flying sword slam, and vicious combos that can cut his way even through Nike's Guard Cancel.
- Even with a correct Diskarmor he is still hard to hit. However, he is VERY weak to the Sea Diskarmor's Tracer: wait for Icarus to begin his flying sword slam and hold A, then move out of the way at the last moment. Icarus will land on the Sea Diskarmor and take damage. Release A and he should take even more damage. On the ground, he have a hard time coping with the Heavenly Diskarmor's more powerful combo chains and jump attacks. Finally, you can freeze him in place with Siren and pound on him while he is frozen (make sure he does NOT have a blue forcefield up).
- After defeating Icarus, search the pillars where you met him for Ambrosia and a Divine Shield.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in the pillars where you got Ambrosia and Divine Shield.
- Move the Tackle Box beyond the pillars, enter the small hallway, use the save point, and battle another boss after the cutscene.
BOSS: Typhon
- This disgusting creature has five heads that shoot fireballs that are easily dodged by sliding (watch their faces and if they "puff up", a fireball is coming). The two peripheral-most heads will also frequently stick their necks out before doing a sweeping headbutt; this attack can be blocked and it's very important you do so as even touching them is deadly. If these two heads are killed, the next two peripheral-most heads will use a flame breath sweep instead. Also, as each head is killed, the fireball shots get stronger, with the last remaining head basically napalming the entire platform. The only way to reliably dodge the more powerful fireballs is by sliding directly towards the camera away from the fireball's target location. Finally, it can flap its wings to harmlessly push Rygar away. Also, Rygar thankfully cannot enter the lava pool it is sitting in, but he CAN fall into the lava pool south of the platform.
- Right of the bat run forward towards Typhon and summon a Level 3 Siren attack (hold C and tap B three times). This will do huge damage to at least the 3 center heads, if not more or all the heads at once. Next, keep jumping and hitting the center heads. If you see a side head readying a sweeping headbutt, get ready to block it. This way, as you kill off the three center heads, you will have the other two of the heads continually doing headbutts and not filling the platform with fireballs. When all three of the center heads are killed, take down the side heads. The fireball attacks will be very strong at this point, but the distance between the two heads makes it difficult for one head's fireballs to aid the other. Plus, the side heads will still usually waste a lot of time headbutting and, without protection from fireballs, are very vulnerable to AAAA Hades and ABS Heavenly combos during the headbutt.
- When it's down to a final head, that head will now just shoot powerful fireball blasts over and over. Slide directly away from Typhon whenever it's about to fire, and continue hitting it with jump attacks.
- When Typhon is dead, take the only exit, save at the save point, and Tackle the box out of the way. You are now back at Mt. Othrys.
- Look for a second Tackle Box in this room and REMEMBER IT. This box leads to the last level in the game. You can take time to collect some items you may have missed, and participate in a dungeon challenge, if you like; otherwise, skip the next section and the "NECROMODIO CAVE" walkthrough, and proceed to the walkthrough for "TARTAROS".
Extra Items
- With the Tackle technique now unlocked, you can grab some items that were previously missing. Unfortunately, the only way back to Main Field is through the Lion's Road. Traverse the Lion's Road again.
- Back at Arcadia, shove aside the Tackle Box by the first save point. Climb through the hole, and push the Tackle Boxes outside so that you can shove the middle one back towards the hole, allowing for an exit back. Use the Telesphere; this Telesphere is locked until Typhon is killed and will return you to Main Field.
- Return all the way back to South Courtyard, where you first entered Main Field. Explore the southwest region of the map and you will find a hole in the fence that leads to a new path. Follow the path and you will drop down a hole back into the only section in the Colloseo still available.
- In the Colloseo, shove aside a Tackle Box and continue on. You will encounter a battle with Rollers, Alpha Rollers, and a Hammer Cyclops. Kill them and take the west passage. Use the Hades Crucible to dispel the seal and get Artemis, a mystic stone that replenishes life when you kill enemies.
- Next, head to the Elysion Shrine Rear Entrance, ascend the steps, and cross the gaps and column bridges again. At the other side is a Tackle Box. Shove it away for a Gallery Item and an Athena stone.
- When finished, head back to the Telesphere in the Main Field Isolated Zone to return to Mt. Othrys. From there, make your way back to the Magma Cave.
30 Level Dungeon
- The Necromodio Cave is actually very close by where you fight Typhon. Drop back onto the Mountain Trail and follow it back until it seems to dead-end. Break the green-hued wall with the X's on it to unveil a secret route not on the map. Follow it to a Tackle Box and move it. Drop into the hole to begin the dungeon.
- The rule is to kill every creature on every floor to summon an elevator. The elevator gives you the option to flee the cave or go one level lower. Sea and Heavenly Diskarmors will be useful here, as will Hades for killing Karkinoses. Nemesis will be invaluable here as it will let you cancel enemy hitstun, often saving Rygar from a painful combo. If you are ever desperate for health, consider using Aphrodite and Artemis. Clotho will also let your Icol count stay healthy while using summons to clear tougher floors. Be sure also to use "Recovery" to get up quickly from a knockdown (press C while landing from a knockdown)
- The list for all 30 levels and descriptions are below.
The Battles of the Necromodio Cave
- Level 1: Warm-up battle with Rollers
- Level 2: Alpha Rollers
- Level 3: Rollers and Hyacinthi
- Level 4: Alpha Rollers and Plasmacinthi
- Level 5: Fighter Cyclops and Magma Rollers. Kill the Cyclops first with Sea combos. You will get an Ares stone on this level.
- Level 6: Magma Rollers and Hyacinthi.
- Level 7: Harpuiais and Volt Harpuiais. The Volt Harpuiais are the most aggressive and dangerous of the Harpuiai family. Make sure to perform a Recovery if any of them knock Rygar down (press C while landing from a knockdown); otherwise, the enemies may continue to pile on damage while Rygar gets up from a knockdown.
- Level 8: Harpuiais and Plasmacinthi
- Level 9: Aguacinthi, Karkinoses, and Harpuiais. Snaps and AAA Hades are a good way to deal with Karkinoses.
- Level 10: Two Cyclopses that are in "Berserk Mode", aided by some very annoying Plasmacinthi. They fortunately appear only one at a time and will drop large nectar after killed. Disrupt their berserking with level 1 Siren immediately. You will get a Gallery Item on this level.
- Level 11: Karkinoses and Rollers. Go after the Karkinoses first. Use Snaps or ABBS Heavenly to kill the Karkinoses.
- Level 12: Aguacinthi and Plasmacinthi. Kill the Aguacinthi first.
- Level 13: Karkinoses and Harpuiais.
- Level 14: Volt Harpuiais. Use Recovery to survive.
- Level 15: Two Cyclops, one Hammer, one Fighter. Use a summons to get rid of them. You will get Divine Armor on this floor.
- Level 16: Magma Rollers, Rollers, Hyacinthi. Kill the weakest enemies first.
- Level 17: Plasmacinthi and Volt Harpuiais.
- Level 18: Plasmacinthi and Karkinoses.
- Level 19: Plasmacinthi and Harpuiais.
- Level 20: Four Fighter Cyclopses, backed up by Plasmacinthi. Keep at them with Sea Combos. a Gallery Item 14 can be found here.
- Level 21: Magma Rollers and Volt Harpuiais. Go after the Volt Harpuiais on sight ASAP.
- Level 22: Karkinoses, Hyacinthi, Magma Rollers. The Hades Diskarmor is useful here if you run around the pursuing enemies and then strike them all down when they line up.
- Level 23: Harpuiais, Volt Harpuiais, Alpha Rollers. Definitely use summons here, preferably Siren, to clear out this horde. They will drop plenty of Icol to make up for it. Equip Clotho if you plan on using this strategy.
- Level 24: Magma Rollers. Fight your way through with Sea combos. They can be dangerous if you are surrounded.
- Level 25: Four Beserking Hammer Cyclops, aided by Magma Rollers. You must use summons to knock them out of the beserking mode, then take them out; ignore the Magma Rollers as their bites hurt far less. They will drop Holy Sword, Divine Shield, large nectars, and Divine Armor. You will also get the mystic stone, Hypnos, here. This restores your life if you stand Rygar still for ten seconds. You should definitely use this to restore Rygar's health after finishing each of the final five levels.
- Level 26: Karkinoses, Harpuiais, Plasmacinthi. Recover with Hypnos after killing them.
- Level 27: Karkinoses, Hyacinthi, Magma Rollers. Go after the weaker enemies. Recover with Hypnos.
- Level 28: Plasmacinthi, Alpha Rollers, Harpuiais, Volt Harpuiais. Use summons here as the Alpha Rollers drop a lot of Icol. Recover with Hypnos.
- Level 29: Plasmacinthi, Magma Rollers, Volt Harpuiais. Kill the Volt Harpuiais first. Recover with Hypnos.
- Level 30: The final level has a horde of Plasmacinthi and two Minotaurs, appearing one at a time. Just stay behind the Minotaurs and pound their rears with Sea combos. Block the shockwave if the attempt it, and equip Demeter if you have it. If one of them tries for a super dash attack, cancel it with a summon. After killing them both, finish off the rest of the enemies and break the statue to beat the dungeon and unlock the "Guitarmor" cheat code, which replaces the Diskarmor model with a guitar. The prize will be unique for each difficulty you are on save for Easy Mode.
The Gate to Tartaros
- When you are ready, move the Tackle Box above the tunnel that leads to the Typhon room and enter the cavern it was guarding.
- Approach the Gate for a cutscene, then exit Tartaros. Smash all of the objects in the room and you will eventually find a Gallery Item and Letter 1. Re-enter the Gate when finished.
- Sfaria checklist: 20P in the objects scattered around the Gate.
Hades
- Move along the linear path. At the turn, a battle will begin with Magma Rollers and a Brontes. Immediately get behind the Brontes and hit him with Sea combos. There is a Divine Shield in one of the gooey pillars here. There is also a secret passage to the right of the door; jump upwards a few steps to the right of the door and Rygar should land in a tunnel above. Follow it to a hidden save point and Ambrosia.
- Continue along the path, taking the nearby green fleshy door. At the next arena, you will battle Charon and Phobos. Kill them for a Divine Shield and continue.
- Next is a battle with a Gigantes. Simply slide past him and pound with Sea Combos. He will drop large nectar. Continue onward to a boss.
BOSS: Invisible Minotaur
- Other than him being translucent, he is no different from any other Minotaur. Keep hammering him with Sea Combos and stay behind him, as always. Stay in front of him is even more risky here as his invisibility makes it difficult to see what move he is going to do next.
- After killing him, prepare your Diskarmors, save at the save point, and get ready for the final two bosses.
BOSS: Echidna
- The most difficult aspect of Echidna is that she is normally invulnerable to all of Rygar's regular attacks. The one of two ways to damage her is to use a summon on Echidna. This drops Echidna's invulnerability temporarily, only long enough to land in a combo. The other is the Karkinoses that she summons; if they explode near Echidna's head, she will take considerable damage. The rocks around the arena can be destroyed for some Icol and nectar, but most of the Icol will have to be gained from the Karkinoses.
- Equip Heavenly Diskarmor with Clotho and good offensive mystic stones. When she howls and churns black smoke from her maw, this means she's about to summon Karkinoses. Face Echidna's head and time a ABBSr Heavenly combo so that Rygar is spin attacking into her face as the Karkinoses appear. They'll explode and hopefully do big damage to Echidna. Meanwhile, collect their Icol and use a Level 1 Talos. While Echinda is stunned, hit her with the ABS Heavenly combo. Repeat the process until she is through. Another technique is to equip Hades Diskarmor with Persephone and using Snap throws to hurl the Karkinoses directly into Echidna's face. They will do decent damage and still drop Icol.
- When Echidna is not summoning Karkinoses, she has two other attacks. One a ground pound that summons shockwaves; simply leap away from Rygar's current position to avoid them. The other is a dark flame breath sweep that can be avoid by just positioning Rygar over by Echinda's feet, or towards the back end of the arena. When Echidna is almost dead, she'll use a powerful homing spark attack that is EXTREMELY difficult to dodge without using the Hermes mystic stone.
- After Echidna is dead, it's time for the final boss.
FINAL BOSS: Cronus
- Cronus has a slew of attacks. One is a time-freeze spell; if this happens, jump immediately after it wears off to avoid being hit by bolts. He has a spin attack if you get too close, as well as a stab, and a telekinetic shove that does no damage and just pushes Rygar away. His worst moves are shockwaves similar to Echinda's (leap to avoid them), a hail of energy blasts (best avoided by retreating to the center of the arena and moving around), and a brutal slash attack (best avoided using Hermas, or a mystic stone that grants some invulnerability like Boreas or Eurus. The best would be a Zephyrus/Notus combo). You should consider trying a summon to disrupt his more dangerous moves.
- Keep on him so that he wastes time using close-range moves and shoves. If you have Hermes, staying close to him will be simple. When he attempts a spin move, cancel it with a level 1 Siren, then keep pounding on him. Level 2 Siren summons also does big damage to him. Avoid using level 3 Siren as it is expensive for Icol. It's risky, but at times you can punch through his spin move with the Sea Diskarmor and cause him collosal damage.
- After killing Cronus, the game is completed. You will receive unlockables depending on what mode has been completed.
Hard Mode
- You will begin Hard Mode with the same stats (such as attack, health meter, etc.) carried over from your previous game.
- You will begin Hard Mode with all the mystic stones you collected from the previous game. If you open a treasure idol that contained a mystic stone in the previous game, it will contain a 100P Sfaria or healing item instead.
- In Hard Mode, the regular enemies are all around faster and stronger, even more skilled. For example, the Rollers are much more aggressive, the enemies are more accurate with projectiles, and the Cyclopses are quicker to berserk and use multi-hit combos.
- In Hard Mode, the bosses are generally the same, simply having more defense and do much more damage.
- The traps in the Labyrinthos Palace are generally more plentiful and dangerous. The lava on Mt. Othrys is also very damaging.
- The treasure idols that held stat-increasing items like Holy Sword, Divine Shield, Divine Armor will do so again in Hard Mode. Collect them again to further increase Rygar's power; If Rygar is maxed out for a particular stat, he will get a 100P Sfaria or a healing item instead.
- Hard Mode has gallery items that can be found only while playing it. They will be hidden in the exact same spots their counterparts were in Normal Mode, with the ONLY exception being an extra gallery item in the Necromodio Cave. If an object or treasure idol that had a gallery item in Normal Mode does not have one for Hard Mode, the object will drop a 100P Sfaria instead.
Legendary Mode
- You will begin Legendary Mode with the same stats (such as attack, health meter, etc.) carried over from your previous game.
- You will begin Legendary Mode with all the mystic stones you collected from the previous game. If you open a treasure idol that contained a mystic stone in the previous game, it will contain a 100P Sfaria instead.
- The treasure idols that held stat-increasing items like Holy Sword, Divine Shield, Divine Armor will do so again in Hard Mode. Collect them again to further increase Rygar's power; If Rygar is maxed out for a particular stat, he will get a 100P Sfaria instead.
- Like Hard Mode, this mode has gallery items that can be found only while playing it. And like Hard Mode, they are hidden in the same places they are in Normal Mode. If you find all possible Gallery Items in an object that normally stores them, it will drop a 100P Sfaria or healing items instead.
- The Cadeacus item is not found in Elysion Shrine like it normally is. Instead, it is in a treasure idol on the beach at Labyrinthos Shrine. Also, many of the Ambrosias and Omphalos are removed from the game.
- The regular enemies are at their strongest and can be very deadly. You may also even find enemies in areas previously not seen in. For example, the very first Roller battle in Legendary Mode has a Hammer Cyclops there as well.
- The traps in Labyrinthos Palace are numerous and dangerous, and lava is quickly fatal. It is very important to have Eirene (and for the traps, Demeter as well) equipped in those hazardous areas.
- Nectar is all around very scarce in Legendary Mode. You'll need to rely on mystic stones like Hypnos and Aphrodite more.
- The auras the Diskarmor Crucibles give you disappear very quickly. You will have to quickly hustle to the seals after grabbing an aura from them.
- You can actually die from falling into in voids and pits in Legendary Mode (whereas in other modes, Rygar is simply sent back to a "checkpoint"). This makes the Lion's Road one of the hardest areas in the game.
- In Legendary Mode, the bosses are tough enough as to perhaps require some difference in strategy. See the tips below.
- Hekatonchieres: The god statue's attacks are completely devestating. Do not ever be anywhere near it. Otherwise, this fight is the same, and the horse statue's flame does little damage even on Legendary.
- Icarus: Same strategies will work. Fighting him head-on can be tricky as he favors his dashing slice a lot more now.
- Sphinx: He has a lot of defense and will constantly run to the center structure, making for a very long fight. It will be really helpful to have Hades maxed out before starting this battle.
- Sphinx Soul: Same strategies will work. The spread shot is very fast and painful, so make sure to nullify any lurking homing shots with blocks.
- Cetus: The same strategies will work, but you may need Hermes to stay ahead of his now-very-fast-and-damaging belly flops.
- Minotaur: One of the most profound upgrades. He relies far less on the shockwaves now and uses more of his swings up close, including the 360 spin. His sword swipes can take off a third of Rygar's life. You will also need to be very fast to get inside him. Have Demeter equipped at all times. The Invisible Minotaur is not much different.
- Boa: If you are in trouble, retreat to any number of safe spots in the catacomb and use Hypnos and Morpheus. Otherwise, the same strategy will work. Boa is much faster and the flame much more painful, but he did not get a significant defense increase.
- Centaur: You MUST use Hermes to stay with him at all times and pile on the hits and to dodge his arrow rain. The rain really hurts and he fires volleys fast enough to shoot you repeatedly to death. Otherwise, the same strategies will work.
- True Icarus: You must take advantage of his weakness to Sea Diskarmor's Tracer; this will be your biggest asset as will level 1 Siren and the Heavenly Diskarmor. He favors the dash slide now, so always be ready to block it and counter. He changes forcefields fast and he is not afraid to spam the homing spark when he's near death.
- Typhon: Very difficult. It will spam fireballs everywhere which do incredible juggle damage and the increase in defense makes this a long fight. The cheap way is to abuse a secret safe spot in the room. It's a tiny island in the lava south from the second and third Typhon heads on the left. None of Typhon's attacks can reach you there, so you can rest with Morpheus (and Hypnos if you need health), then return to spam more Siren. If you prefer killing the boss more honorably, start with the middle head, then kill the two periphial heads as getting juggled by fireballs into their headbutts is almost instant death. Afterward, kill the last two heads patiently and carefully.
- Echidna: The homing spark attack is very damaging now. When Echidna is almost dead, you must either kill it quickly, or disrupt the attack with a summon, or be sure to use Hermes to dodge the attack. Use Lachesis to ration your summons. Echidna also has very high defense now, so much so that you may want to stick with throwing Karkinoses at it to get past this fight quickly.
- Cronus: Mostly the same, although the spin attack really hurts as does the energy blast hails. It is preferable to keep him close so that he does less of the latter. Hopefully you'll still have your Cadeacus or at least Ambrosia.
Basics
- This mode has thirty levels of Rygar in a small arena in which the player must kill all the enemies that appear using the Wiimote-controlled Diskarmor. After every five levels, a boss fight begins. After killing all five bosses, the player will fight a secret boss, Erebos. Killing him ends Gladiator Mode and unlocks a special music track in the Gallery.
Controls
- The basic movement controls are the same as Conquest Mode. Rygar also has his slide unlocked.
- The combat controls are far different. Here, you hold A and swing the Wiimote. Rygar will swing the Diskarmor, doing damage in proportional as to how hard the Wiimote was swung. He is invulnerable during the swinging animation (but usually not the wind-up). The attacks are listed below:
- Gration's Fang: Hold A, aim the analog at the enemy, and swing the Wiimote over your head forwards. Rygar will shoot the Diskarmor at the target. This is his fastest attack and is good for counterattacking Doppelgangers.
- Halpe's Edge: Hold A and swing the Wiimote to the side. This attack normally does less damage than the other attacks, but has a massive range and can shove some enemies away. Overall bread-and-butter move.
- Vulcan Hammer: Hold A and swing the Wiimote over your head. Do NOT move the analog while doing so. This is arguably Rygar's best move. He is invulnerable during much of the animation and it does big damage even if the charge is low.
- If you swing the Wiimote hard enough so that the strike is fully charged, Rygar performs a hit that is ranked "S". An S-level hit will stun bosses and knock Cyclopses/Giganti out of their berserker modes. You will also get better scores and a better chance at bonus items.
- The items the enemies drop are small nectar, large nectar, Argus Crest (temporary invincibility) and Mighty Sword (all attacks are temporarily automatically S-level).
Tips
- Basic Enemies: The regular enemies pose no threat with S-level hits from Halpe's Edge. The most dangerous are probably the Hyacinthani who can and will gang up on Rygar; make sure to block often with them.
- Giant Knights: Simply slide behind them and use S-level hits, or hit them with Vulcan Hammer from long range. An S-hit will stun them. You may at times want to kill these first if there are Doppelgangers around as a mistake with these can be very costly.
- Doppelgangers: Hold block and wait for them to execute a combo, then counter, preferably with Gration's Fang or Halpe's Edge if there is a group. They have a surprising amount of health. Can be very annoying with Cyclopses and Giganti about.
- Fighter Cyclopses: Just block and counter with Halpe's Edge, so that a miss is not likely. Unless there is a berserking Hammer Cyclopses, kill these ASAP as otherwise they will get in the way frequently.
- Hammer Cyclopses/Giganti: When they are simply walking around, just plow them with Vulcan Hammer. If they get close, slide away. Halpe's Edge is also a good attack to use for two reasons: one is that it can push them far away, and the other is that Halpe's Edge often triggers their AI into swinging at empty air, allowing you to get in more hits. If they beserk, you MUST slide away and hit them with an S-hit, preferably Vulcan Hammer; S-level hits can knock them out of berserker mode. If you don't, they are guarenteed to kill Rygar quickly.
- Hekatonchieres: The first boss. Kill him the same as his counterpart in Conquest Mode. S-level hits will disrupt the horse's flame breath, making the second half of the battle very easy.
- Minotaur: The second boss. If you are good, you can hit him with S-level hits over and over to kill him, while his own attacks will be nullified by the invincibile animation of your attacks. In fact, perfect this strategy if you can as you will need to later...
- Boa: The third boss. Standing in the same sweet spot as in Conquest Mode works. Halpe's Edge will make short work of him.
- Centaur: The fourth and arguably hardest boss. The first half can be easily dealt with as in the Conquest Mode: follow him with slides and hit him when he stops. When he starts looping around the arena, however, things get difficult as the arrow volleys do big damage and dodging the arrow rain is almost impossible, even using the invulnerable animations of your attacks. You must stay put and keep using S-hit Halpe's Edge to lasso him, canceling his arrow rain and forcing him to keep shooting at Rygar.
- Invisible Minotaur: The fifth boss. Same strategies as regular Minotaur, although he seems to have a significant power increase. You may want to stay close to him as it is otherwise naturally hard to see what attacks he'll do next from afar.
- Cronus: The sixth boss. Even though he is flying, the Diskarmor will automatically track his height. He is extremely weak to Halpe's Edge. Try your best to kill him before he can do the energy blast hail. The spin attack does little damage, so stay close. Kill him to begin the final battle.
- Erebos: The secret final boss. He is essentially a super-powered Minotaur. Unlike the normal Minotaurs, you cannot slide under his attacks, nor can you block his sword (you can still block the shockwave ground pound). The only way to win is to stand in front of him at a decent distance and time your S-level hits (preferably Vulcan Hammer) so that Erebos will strike precisely when you are invulnerable and you in turn stun him for big damage. If you are too close, he will use his faster attacks, which are harder to time. At a distance, his attacks are slower and easier to time your S-level hits to. If you win, you will unlock his theme song in the Gallery.
