Rye

Rye is a grain used in making breads, whiskey and beer. It is closely related to barley and wheat. Rye has been cultivated since the Middle Ages in Central and Eastern Europe. There are claims that Rye may have been farmed at a much earlier time, but scientific evidence is inconclusive.

Uses of Rye

Rye is commonly used to make rye bread and pumpernickel bread. Rye bread is a popular food item in Europe and North America. Rye can also be used to make rye whiskey. Oralmat is rye extract in liquid form used as an alternative medicine. Benefits of the extract include strengthened immune system and allergy relief.
