Ryan Parent is a professional hockey player who plays defense for the Philadelphia Flyers. Parent was born on March 17, 1987 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in Canada. He played three seasons of junior hockey with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League. Parent was drafted 18th overall by the Nashville Predators during the 1st round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. On February 15, 2007, he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers along with Scott Upshall and future draft picks in exchange for Peter Forsberg. Parent made his NHL debut on April 5 against the New Jersey Devils. Parent has remained with the Flyers organization since coming over, splitting time for two seasons between the Flyers and their minor league affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms. 2009-10 Season
The 2009-10 season was Parent's first full year as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers, he would end up playing in 48 games, registering just one goal and two assists. Both of Parent's assists came in the month of October, one on the third against the New Jersey Devils, the other on Halloween against the Carolina Hurricanes. Parent's team would go on to the playoffs, where he would play in 16 games, including one Stanley Cup Finals game. This is video of Ryan Parent's first career NHL goal, scored against the Florida Panthers on March 3, 2010. It took Parent over 70 games to before he finally was able to score in the pros. The Flyers would go on to lose the game 7-4.
