Ryan O'Neal is an American actor who gained international attention, along with his co-star Ali MacGraw, in the iconic 1970 film, Love Story. O'Neal plays Max Keenan on the FOX television series, Bones.

O'Neal, who has been diagnosed with Leukemia, took care of his longtime companion, Farrah Fawcett. In an exclusive interview with People magazine published on May 7, 2009, O'Neal discussed Fawcett's terminal cancer for the first time. He told People that Fawcett has lost her iconic hair, "her famous hair. I have it at home. She didn't care. I rub her head. It's kind of fun, actually, this great, tiny little head. Fawcett and O'Neal's son, Redmond O'Neal, in is jail for drug-related probation violation. O'Neal told People that he has not told Fawcett that their son is in trouble with the law. Redmond O'Neal was granted a three-hour leave from jail on April 25, 2009 to visit his ailing mother at her home. Redmond O'Neal is waiting for a transfer to a lockdown rehab facility.

O'Neal said that his son is afraid he will be in jail and a guard will inform him that his mother has died. O'Neal reportedly told his son that "she's rebounding. I lied to him. I lie to her. It's the best thing." O'Neal also admitted that Fawcett "stays in bed now. The doctors see that she is comfortable. Farrah is on IVs, but some of that is for nourishment. O'Neal pled guilty to one count of felony possession of methamphetamines on January 9, 2009, in a Malibu, California, courtroom.
