Give Bush the Boot
Hill's arrest followed another shoe throwing demonstration that had occurred earlier in the day. Over a hundred demonstrators gathered in Dupont Circle, and threw shoes at a 20 foot tall blow up figure that was intended to represent President Bush. The figure was labeled "Give Bush the Boot". After warming up their arms tossing shoes at the effigy they marched to the White House, where they threw their footwear onto the White House lawn. Police watched the demonstrators and confiscated the shoes, but no arrests were made.Huffington Post: Bush Protest: Shows Thrown at White House(January 19, 2008) Protest organizer Jamilla El-Shafei described their intention as to "shoe Bush" out of the White House.Official Site: Shoebush.org
