The Russian Federation, also known as Russia, is a transcontinental country that extends over much of northern Eurasia.
Geography and Climate
Russia Federation spans eleven time zones and contains a large range of environments and landforms. By far the largest country in the world, Russia has the world's largest forest reserves and is known as "the lungs of Europe," second only to the Amazon Rainforest. guardian.co.uk: guardian.co.uk Most of the territory has two distinct seasons, winter and summer. There is a spring and fall season but they are usually very brief. January is the coldest part of the year and July is considered the hottest time of year.
