In August 17, 2007, Russia and China conducted joint military exercises as a part of the continuing development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), an international military-industrial partnership between Eurasian nations. The exercises took place just one month following Russia's withdrawal from the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty.
Warning To Washington

The exercises have been viewed as a warning to the United States, which had been pushing for the expansion of a missile defense system into Eastern Europe.
