Early Life
Russell Paul Springer was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on November 7, 1968. He attended Grant High School. He continued his education at Louisiana State University. Pro Career
On April 17, 1992, Springer made his MLB debut with the New York Yankees. In his first season, he appeared in 14 games and compiled a 6.19 earned run average. In 1992, he was traded to the California Angels. He has since played for several teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.
