  • Ruslan Salei is a professional ice hockey player for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League.

  • Early Years

    Salei began his career in 1992, playing in the Russian Super League. He was drafted ninth overall in the 1996 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. He made his NHL debut that same year, splitting his first two seasons between the Ducks and their minor league affiliates. In 1998 and 2002, Salei represented his native Belarus in the Winter Olympics.
  • Recent Career

    In 2003, Salei helped the Ducks reach the Stanley Cup Finals, where they fell to the New Jersey Devils. He returned to the Russian Super League during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout, playing for the AK Bars Kazan. On July 2, 2006, Salei signed as a free agent with the Florida Panthers to a four-year, $12.1 million contract. Most recently, he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche from the Panthers on February 26, 2008.
