Rush Hour Films

The Rush Hour Films are a series of American action-adventure comedy films directed by Brett Ratner from 1998 to 2007

Plot

In Los Angeles, loudmouth Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) and Chief Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) first team up in Rush Hour to save the kidnapped daughter of the Chinese consul. During the film, they get past their differences and form a bond (though they continue to bicker in ensuing sequels).

While on vacation in Hong Kong just after rescuing the daughter, the duo comes across a money laundering scheme masterminded by the Chinese Triads, also responsible for the death of Lee's father. In Rush Hour 2, Carter and Lee foil the Triads initially, but end up facing them again in Rush Hour 3, when an assassination attempt on the consul puts his daughter in danger once again.

After trailing the gangsters to Paris, Carter and Lee put an end to the Triads, and return the daughter home safely.

Critical Response

The first Rush Hour was met with perhaps the most critical praise, despite generally mixed reviews. Rush Hour 2 followed suit, though more critics didn't feel it was worth the hype it received. Still, the sequel managed to gross more than its predecessor and successor.

By the release of Rush Hour 3 in 2007, critics grew tired of the same formula it followed, and it is the worst-reviewed Rush Hour to date. Loyal fans of the series, however, still made it a box office success, leading to rumors of a fourth installment in the future.
