The "running of the bulls" involves running in front of bulls that have been let loose down a city street. The most famous running of the bulls takes place each July in Pamplona, Spain, during the annual San Fermin festival.
At the 2008 San Fermin festival, 13 people were injured during the first running of the bulls on July 7th. San Fermin Festival Background
The San Fermin Festival is held in Pamplona, Spain, beginning on July 6th each year. The festival begins with music and dancing, then the first of several bull runs takes place on the morning of July 7th. A total of eight runs are scheduled over the nine-day event. Streets are cordoned off prior to each run. A typical run consists of several hundred people running from six bulls over a roughly half-mile course. Each run typically lasts three minutes.
