Runes of Magic

Runes of Magic is a free-to-play MMORPG that is currently in an open beta. Players have the option of purchasing items through the game's store in order to further their progress.

Runes of Magic is completely free to play and download. The game makers rely on microtransactions in the form of item purchases to support the game. These items can help players progress more quickly. The game features a dual-class system with six primary classes and many more secondary classes to choose from. More than 600 quests and eight different regions are already active in the game with regular updates planned after the game launches in March 2009. Runes of Magic is set in a fantasy world called Taborea created by the god Ayvenas. As the different races of peoples evolved in Taborea, differences began to become more pronounced, with some races seeking a peaceful existence while others were driven by greed and power. Upset with what was happening, Ayvenas is said to have scattered fragments of the world's future throughout the land, allowing the people to shape their future themselves. After a long series of wars, humans learned the art of using runes to help fend off evil, but that civilization was destroyed.
