Rufus Sewell has acted on stage, television and screen, and has appeared in a number of period pieces such as Charles II: The Power and the Passion. He began acting in 1993 when he appeared in a BBC presentation of George Eliot's Middlemarch. He has since appeared in numerous films such as Dark City, A Knight's Tale, Tristan and Isolde and The Illusionist. He was recently cast for the lead in the CBS drama Eleventh Hour and portrays Alexander Hamilton in the HBO miniseries John Adams. He is a versatile actor, with the ability to sink into the roles he is cast in, however early in his career he was often cast in the role of antagonist.
