Roy Thomas is an American comic book writer and editor.
Career
A fan of comic books since childhood, Roy Thomas left his profession as a high school teacher to work for DC Comics in 1965. He worked as an assistant for eight days before getting hired as a staff writer at Marvel, contributing to Iron Man and Doctor Strange stories.
Thomas's extensive knowledge of Marvel Universe continuity eventually earned him the position of editor-in-chief in 1972, replacing Stan Lee. He also wrote for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four, even helping create superheros Ghost Rider and Iron Fist.
Thomas later worked for DC in the 1980s, where he wrote storylines for the Justice Society of America. Since the 1990s, he has written for independent companies in addition to work with both DC and Marvel.
