Actor Roy Scheider was an American actor who hit his best stride during the 1970s. He is perhaps best known for playing Amity Police Chief Martin Brody from Steven Spielberg's classic Jaws.
Notable Accomplishments
During the course of his long career, he was nominated for two Oscars: Best Supporting Actor for The French Connection and Best Actor for his take on choreographer Bob Fosse in All That Jazz. He starred in over 80 films and TV shows during his career.
Personal Life
Roy Scheider was first married in 1962 to a miss Cynthia Bebout. That marriage lasted over 25 years, producing one daughter for the couple. They divorced in 1989, and Scheider re-married actress Brenda King the same year. Scheider died on February 10, 2008, at the age of 75 following a prolonged bout with Multiple Myeloma.
