  • The Ross Sea is a deep bay in southern Antarctica, discovered in 1891, by James Ross. It's located between Victoria Land and Marie Byrd Land.

    To the west of Ross Sea is Ross Island, home to the Mt. Erebus Volcano. To the east is Roosevelt Island. The Ross Ice Shelf runs alongside the Ross Sea, and the Gould Coast can be found to the south.

    The land masses that are located in the Ross Sea are claimed by the Britain and New Zealand, and fall under the Ross Dependency.

  • Colossal Squid Captured

    On February 22, 2007, a Colossal Squid, that measured 32.8 feet long and weighed in at 1,091 pounds, was captured in the Ross Sea.
