• Rosie O'Donnell is an American talk show host, comedienne and actress who has won eleven Emmy Awards. O'Donnell most recently co-hosted The View with Barbara Walters until she left the show in 2007.

    In February 2009, O'Donnell told Tyra Banks on The Tyra Banks Show that she had recently received advice on how to deal with menopause from none other than Madonna.     On November 23, 2008, O'Donnell discovered 17-year-old Philip Johnson, who is to play along side her in the movie America. Johnson will play the role of a boy caught up in the foster care system. O'Donnell plays the role of a therapist who helps the boy. She is also the executive producer.

  • Brief Biography

    Born in Queens, New York to Irish-American parents in 1962, O'Donnell began performing stand-up in comedy clubs in the New York area in 1979. A stint on Ed McMahon's Star Search talent program brought her fame, and in 1992, she made her film debut as third baseman Doris Murphy in A League of Their Own, starring alongside Madonna, Tom Hanks, and Geena Davis. In 1996, she began hosting The Rosie O'Donnell Show on NBC, a show which won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show every year from 1998 to 2002. O'Donnell has been an extremely generous benefactor for various children's charities and has four children of her own (three of whom are adopted), whom she raises with partner Kelli Carpenter.
