After eight years as a minor league prospect, Paulino made his major league debut on September 25, 2005. Paulino's first full season in the majors came in 2006, where he hit .310 Batting Average, with 6 Home Run, and 55 Runs Batted In in 129 games as the Pirates starting catcher.
