Ronald Murray also known as “Flip’’, is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association and currently plays the guard position for the Chicago Bulls. Ronald Murray was born July 29, 1979 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Ronald earned the named “Flip” because of the numerous flips he performed in his gymnastics class as a 10-year old. Murray spent his college years at Shaw University; a Division II school. During his senior season at Shaw State (2001-2002), the University to a 28-5 record and to the Division II Final Four game. Ronald Murray was fourth in the CIAA in scoring with over 23 points a game and was ninth overall in assists with 6.2 per game. Murray’s favorite jersey number growing up with number 22 as Clyde Drexler was his favorite player. Ronald Murray 2009-10 Season
Ronald Murray began the 2009-2010 season as a member of the Charlotte Bobcats. Murray had respectable averages of 9.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Ronald Murray was traded to the Chicago Bulls along with fellow-guard, Acie Law for disgruntled forward Tyrus Thomas. Murray appeared in 29 games for the Bulls coming off the bench. Murray’s numbers averages with the Bulls are nearly identical to the numbers he put with the Bobcats (10.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists). Flip Murray has proven to be a valuable scoring option of the bench during the regular season and so far in the playoffs. Murray is probably one of the most consistent scorers off the bench which will be key because the team will need a deep bench to give the starting unit a rest. The one weakness in Murray’s game is that he is not a great shooter.
