  • With titles like Star Trek: The Next Generation and Battlestar Galactica, the reimagined series under his belt, screenwriter and producer Ronald D Moore is a vied for speaker and guest at science fiction and fantasy conventions all over the country.

Though he did experiment with writing and drama while in high school, Moore didn't always intend to become a writer and producer. He originally attended Cornell University on a Navy scholarship and studied politics. He did not graduate after losing interest in his studies. He also found himself out of the Navy as well when a high school knee injury prohibited from performing his duties.

His eventual work on the popular science fiction series Star Trek: The Next Generation was the result of passing a manuscript to one of the creator's assistant's who helped him find an agent so he could submit formally. The success of that script led to his becoming a staff writer for the show.

He went on to work as an executive producer and writer for Stark Trek: Deep Space Nine. From there he worked on a number of series, both science-fiction and mainstream television shows like the HBO series Carnivale and the popular alien drama, Roswell.

In 2003 he began working on the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series, which debuted as a mini-series and was later picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel. He has since worked on four seasons, an online mini-drama, and a made-for-TV movie for Battlestar Galactica and is currently planning a second TV film called Caprica that is scheduled for a 2008 release. Caprica is pending a full series based on viewer response.

Moore recently signed on with United Artists and Fox to create a series called Virtuality.
