Ron Raines was born December 2, 1949 in Texas City, Texas. Raines graduated from Nacogdoches High School in Texas after attending five high schools. He grew up with his father who was a minister. This sparked his interest in music because of his experiences at the church. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Music Degree from Oklahoma City University.

Ron Raines is known for his role in the daytime soap opera Guiding Light. He plays the role of Alan Spaulding. He first appeared in the series in 1994 and is presently still involved. Since the series began in 1952, Raines is the third actor to portray the role of Alan Spaulding.
On Broadway
Beyond his role in Guiding Light, Ron Raines also stars on Broadway. He has appeared in a variety of shows including The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Teddy & Alice, Can Can and others. Along with his Broadway roles, Raines has also released two solo albums.
