Early Career

Ron Perlman spent his early career split between prestige projects like Quest for Fire and The Name of the Rose and offbeat cult classics like The Ice Pirates. His breakout role was as underground-dwelling lion-faced Vincent, a monster with a heart of gold, in the cult TV series Beauty and the Beast.

Voiceover Artist

Perlman lent his voice to a number of animated projects in the early 1990s, and moved into video games far earlier than many of his fellow thespians, voicing roles in the Fallout and Halo series of games.

Prosthetic Actor

Perlman is no stranger to acting through prosthetic makeup, beginning with his role as a Neanderthal in Quest for Fire. His skill in this area was one factor that led director Gulliermo del Toro to cast him in 2004's surprise hit Hellboy, Perlman's first leading role in a film. The San Francisco Chronicle: Who is that Masked Actor?
