NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday is a three-time champion of the Truck Series and has competed in all three major NASCAR series. He's a full-time member of the Kevin Harvick Inc. team, driving the #33 Camping World Chevrolet truck.
Humble Beginnings
Hornaday, who prefers not to use "Jr." or "II," began racing karts and motorcycles before racing stock cars at tracks including the Saugus Speedway and the Mesa Marin Raceway. He was discovered by the late Dale Earnhardt while racing in the NASCAR Winter Heat Series and was signed by DEI to drive in the fledgling Craftsman Truck Series when it began in 1995.
Family Ties
Hornaday's father Ron Hornaday, Sr. is a two-time Winston West Series Champion. His son, Ron "Ronnie" Hornaday, III, is also a former NASCAR driver and was the truck director for the #98 Gillett Evernham Motorsports Truck in 2006.
