Romano Prodi was formerly the Prime Minister of Italy. He was elected in 2006 but soon faced popular dissent over the administration's stances on foreign policy, including involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Prodi resigned as Prime Ministerin 2008. from May 17, 2006 - January 24, 2008.
