• Roland Carnaby was shot dead by police after an hour-long car chase on April 29, 2008.

  After two police officers stopped Carnaby for speeding, Caraby showed them CIA identification. The officers were unsure whether the ID was genuine.

  According to reports, Carnaby drove off when the officer discovered his concealed weapon license. After they managed to stop Carnaby's Jeep, the officers claim Carnaby made a sudden move and the officers opened fire. He died on his way to hospital.

  Carnaby was the president of the local chapter of the Association for Intelligence Officers. Friends say Carnaby mixed socially with local law enforcement officials and high-level CIA personnel.

  However, mystery surrounds his occupation and the nature of his connection to the agency. FBI and CIA officials claim they are not able to trace Carnaby's connection to either agency. Yet, bizarrely, Carnaby's family say they have certificates, pictures and books signed by several officials, including George Tenet and James Baker.

  The agencies cite Carnaby's garrulous nature as evidence that he is not a secret agent.
