Roger Deakins

Roger Deakins is a British cinematographer. In 2009, he was nominated for a Best Cinematography Oscar along side Chris Menges for his work on The Reader. However, the Award went to Slumdog Millionaire cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle.

While studying graphic design in England, Roger Deakins developed a passion for photography.Allmovie: Roger Deakins Biography He shot documentaries until the mid-1980s.

In 1991, Deakins established an ongoing collaborative partnership with The Coen Brothers after working on Barton Fink. His cinematography on the film earned him a London Critics Circle Film Awards and a National Society of Film Critics Award.IMDb: Roger Deakins Awards

Deakins had a successful 2007, working on the critically acclaimed films The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and No Country for Old Men. He was nominated for both films at the 2008 Academy Awards and by the American Society of Cinematographers.
