Rodanthe NC

  • Rodanthe is a town located on Hatteras Island in the Southern Outer Banks in North Carolina bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Pamlico Sound.

    North Carolina resident, author Nicholas Sparks based his novel Nights in Rodanthe on the village. In 2008 the best-selling book was turned into the movie, Nights in Rodanthe starring Diane Lane and Richard Gere.

  • Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station

    • The U.S. Coast Guard was essentially founded in the the small village known as Rodanthe. The first station established along the North Carolina coast, the Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station eventually became the modern Coast Guard. Now a state historic site, Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station stages re-enactments using the breeches-buoy rescue cannon, restored buildings and artifacts.OuterBanks.org: Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo
