  • Football Career

    Prior to playing in the NFL, Smith played college football at Missouri Southern State University. After school, he signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos, in 1994. He joined the Broncos for his professional debut in 1995, playing in all 16 games and recording six receptions for 152 yards and one touchdown.Official Site of the Denver Broncos: Rod Smith

    Smith earned a starting spot with the Broncos in 1997 and scored a career-high 12 touchdowns that season. He went on to help the Broncos win the Super Bowl in 1997 and 1998. His stats continued to improve, recording 1,602 yards in 2000 and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. In 2006, Smith injured his hip at the conclusion of the regular season.
