Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is the main hub to many of New York City's most Notable landmarks and attractions found in the heart of midtown Manhattan.

Rockefeller Center was named after John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Rockefeller leased the space from Columbia University in 1928 and developed it from 1930 onward. His plans were to build an opera house for the Metropolitan Opera on this site, but changed his mind after the stock market crash of 1929. Rockefeller Center was officially opened to the public in May 1933. The now world famous skating rink opens just in time for Christmas in 1936. The Center was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Rockefeller Center is Home to many landmarks such as Radio City Music Hall, the GE Building and the Statue of the Atlas. Rockefeller Center and the observation deck, which gives visitors an incredible view of New York City's Skyline, were John D. Rockefeller Jr.'s gifts to Manhattan and to the city the he loved so much.

The Winter Ice Skating Ring

The Channel Gardens

Running the length of the outdoor promenade, the Channel Gardens separate the French and British Empire Buildings and are, appropriately, named after the English Channel. This Garden is open 24 hours a day.

Along with all of the landmarks there is endless shopping at great stores like the Lego Store, an entire store dedicated to Legos, and TOUS Jewelers which develops a variety of products which can exclusively be purchased at the Rockefeller Center shop. The shopping center has over 100 stores and 40 dining locations.
