About the Game
Rock Band Unplugged will be the first portable version of the popular Rock Band video game franchise. Players match the music by fingering the face buttons, and switch instruments - guitar, bass, vocals, drums - mid-song by pressing the shoulder buttons. The tracks date back as far as 1960's The Who's up to modern day music from bands like System of a Down. Many of the songs are already available in previous released titles in the franchise, but there are a few new tracks as well.
Rock Band Unplugged also features an in-game DLC store, where downloads of additional tracks are available via PC. Ten tracks will initially be available at launch including "Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Unlike Guitar Hero's On Tour games for the Nintendo DS, there will not be a special peripheral to recreate the feel of playing on a guitar controller. Instead, Rock Band Unplugged will play like the PS2 rhythm game Amplitude, developed by Harmonix and released in 2003. Players will use the buttons on the PSP in time to the music.IGN: Rock Band Unplugged Details (February 24, 2009)
