After numerous press outlets reported that they received a PR blast from MTV Games, an official announcement was made on October 30, 2008.MTV Multiplayer: News Alert Fues Rock Band Beatles Talk (October 29, 2008) The Beatles Video Game will be released on September 9, 2009.

The Beatles' music has long been touted as the biggest prize between Rock Band and its main competitor, Guitar Hero. The deal marks the first time The Beatles' music has been licensed for digital download anywhere, as their music is not currently even available on Apple's iTunes store.
