The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of rock and roll music. Artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first record and must have substantially contributed to the history and direction of the genre.
On April 4, 2009, the Hall of Fame inducted Metallica, Run DMC, Bobby Womack, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Wanda Jackson and Jeff Beck.People: Metallica "Psyched" for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction (April 4, 2009) The ceremony was open to the public for the first time in its history. Eminem, who attended in full Run DMC regalia, had this to say about the hip-hop pioneers: "They were the baddest of the bad and the coolest of the cool. Background
Located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, the museum opened its doors in 1995 (although the foundation was created in 1983 and its first members inducted in 1986). The museum features a variety of temporary and permanent exhibits that display prominent artifacts and memorabilia from inductees.Categories
