    On June 16, 2008, Mediate and Tiger Woods tied on the U.S. Open leaderboard at the end of the last day of play, forcing an 18-hole playoff between the two at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California.
  • Career

    Mediate began playing golf while at Florida Southern University. Mediate turned professional in 1985, but his career has been plagued with back troubles.

    Besides his second place finish at the 2008 U.S. Open, in major championships, Mediate finished sixth in the 2002 PGA Championship, tied for 15th at the 2001 Masters and tied for 18th at the 1996 British Open.
