    On January 9, 2009, news agencies reported that Rocco Baldelli was finalizing a deal with the Boston Red Sox. Baldelli is expected to be a fourth outfielder for the Boston Rex Sox. Baldelli has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Rays, but was born in Rhode Island.   • Pro Career

    On March 31, 2003, Baldelli made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In his first season, Baldelli led all rookies in hits in 2003 with 184. He finished the season with a .289 batting average with 78 runs batted in. Baldelli has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. He missed the entire 2005 season, after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament and also injuring his elbow. In 2006, he appeared in 92 games and in 2007, he appeared in only 35 games for the team.
